Square dancing (plus, rounds) 30:00 [1]
shoes: Blair - Botany 500

At Beaus and Belles. 8-10pm.
Noticed a little bit of a sore throat last night and it has gotten worse. Looks like it will be the dreaded upper respiratory tract infection. Io had it 2 weeks ago and I thought I had escaped. So far only in the throat and some coughing but not a good thing just before a weekend of dancing.

run race (road) 27:25 [4] 4.0 mi (6:51 / mi)
shoes: Saucony ? (racing)

DCRRC Bastille Day 4 mi. Fletchers Boathouse. 7pm. Double out and back on the paved bike path. Another typical race for me. Not enough time to warm up properly but tried to stretch the calves to avoid the tightness that has been occurring recently. Felt crappy at the start even though I went out easy. Felt better in the middle and then faded at the end. Bill passed me at 1/2 mile and dropped me at 1 and for the 3rd time in 4 races I finished just behind Jay but could not catch him in the kick. Finished 48 of 165, a big field for a DCRRC evening race. Splits from mile markers (1:20), 6:45, 6:36, 7:01, (5:42). A little faster than the 4 mile on July 4 (27:45) but that could be due to running on pavement vs dirt & gravel. Ran 27:07 last year.

Walked a mile on the course after finishing to wait for Iolanthe to come in but not fast enough to be worth recording.
