Orienteering (Trossachs) 1:19:03 [4] 5.0 km (15:49 / km) +345m 11:45 / km

About 10mins mistakes over controls 1-5 and 9+10, 9 and 10 mainly hesitations. thought some routes i took were ok, mostly safe, but so hesitant and not tuned in at all. quite depressing cause thought i was fit, at least have felt fit all winter but by the end had nothing left even on the tracks. bit of a disappointing weekend, have just gone crap at orienteering, nice seeing people again though.. have nothing to lose at jk so might as well just go for it.

Jog up, round and about felt quite good before the start, had a plan.

Orienteering (Touch Estate) 38:02 [3] 4.0 km (9:31 / km) +155m 7:58 / km

The most frustrating race i think i have ever run. Physically fine, technically fine apart from no4 and lost 2mins, but putting running and map reading together was a complete disaster. Walked most of it, as soon as i started running felt totally out of control, couldn't read the map quick enough or tell what the contours were doing. just wanted to run and couldn't, need to do so much more orienteering.

Easy run..down to the woods, some drills, 6 x 10s sprints on the flat then jog back home. Quite nice, feel ok :)

Ok well I wanted to get out orienteering once more and today was the last chance before trossachs so kinda had to go.

Bit sleepy but slept really badly last night so probably why..

Anyway, out on Kratschach..planned a long/short legs course as this is my main problem really. For the long legs tried to have a plan and attackpoint then wanted to be able to start planning ahead more towards the end. Couldn't decide on some route choices wether to go round or up and over (good planning :P) but tended to find that round took less effort and was generally safer..although not feeling too confident atm. Tried to simplify but got so confused in some parts so went back to breaking the leg up into smaller parts and that worked much better. Tend to keep switching off on long legs too and just running. Short legs I didn't have a problem which is a relief so something has improved! So basically, need more confidence and to stop switching off on a long leg, or at least remember to switch back on. Bit unmotivated so maybe that had a bit of an effect, was feeling better and orienteering better by the end though. Glad i went out but need more work on techincal side.
