Day 2!

Pretty brutal today but I really enjoyed it :D started off in the snow on the moors then by 15km it was a complete white-out in a very boggy area with no path so for about 5km I was running on a bearing in shin deep snow (whilst it was still snowing and into the wind) and just checking direction with the two guys I was with who had GPS. After that it was a bit of a battle into wind, rain and hailstorms! Slightly mad weekend but I've loved it :)

Legs actually felt fine today although I think possibly because they were completely numb from the cold!!

10 weeks to go - fitness seems alright so plan is to keep fit and healthy and just stay consistent! Arghhhh *mild panic* :D

Trying out back to back ultra's as DB training.. West Pennines Double Ultra weekend Day 1

Started in Darwen for a big loop over the moors. Not marked at all so map and compass the whole way which was good practice!

Pretty wintry conditions - wet, windy & sleeting at times. Good route lots of paths/bogs/tussocks and absolute minimal road :) felt great for first 30ish km despite the weather then a bit of a nav error (path is further south than on the map, it's apparently shown on the GPS trace but I went old school with a map!). Spent a bit too much energy catching the group who went past me but caught them by the next checkpoint. Then it was a long hours slog uphill into the wind - very demoralising!! Last bit was nice, sunshine came out and it was a tailwind :D

Attempted to save my legs a bit for tomorrow but probably still a bit fast today! We'll see what tomorrow brings!!!!
