Orienteering 1:20:00 [2] ***

Robbie drew some excellent exercises at Kanata Lakes that we ran today. It started with a corridor orienteering exercise and then a couple of short courses in a technical area of the map with lots of direction changes. I got confused around the one of the controls on the first course where the contours aren't all that accurate (they're not how I would map them anyway). On the second course I got confused one another leg because the fields were mapped very generally and I couldn't precision orienteer on the second half of the leg. I should have just taken a bearing instead of running the fields :/
The last exercise was a long leg short leg exercise which was also very good. I got dragged off on the second long leg by some features which I thought to use to precision orienteering off of but again I should have stayed on my bearing. My bearings were much much better than they normally are and if I can start doing that more consistently the next step is to learn to actual trust them.

I'm not actually sure how much time was orienteering and how much was running between exercises. All I know is that the total time was an hour fifty. I was using an old watch today and can't figure out how to look at the splits on it :/

This also turned into another accidental rest day because I was running errands this morning, then had family and friends over for the afternoon before I leave on Monday (so excited!!) and then was working and packing in the evening. Oops

Felt slow this afterrnon biking to and from school. On the way home I biked along the sidewalk/bike path by Woodroffe and saw two of this evening's controls. I then stopped at the park to see if Gord and Linda needed any help and they gave me three controls to hang - one of which was particularly easy because all I had to do was stick it in the middle of my front lawn :)
