Running 1:30:00 [1] 8.0 km (11:15 / km)
shoes: Newbalance 758 blue

Easy pace - especially the orienteering portion. I'll try and remember to add more details later - in the meantime I'm studying, albeit with only moderate success.

Deep water running 30:00 [2] 4.0 km (7:30 / km)

Equivalent distance. Francis joined me at the pool today and we had a very good conversation about OQ and the school program that I'm going to be starting next year. As a teacher Francis had lots of helpful tips.

Here are some ideas that came out of the session:
1. Start the program in late March before the rush of track season and hold meets until May when all fo the track meets are and then hold more meets after track season (ie in June) when those that don't continue to provincials in track can come out again.
2. USE SI - students will be much more excited about the sport if you can get automated splits, etc.
3. Try and subsidize the start of the program with grant money when teachers and schools aren't sure how the program will go. At the start at least the program should be cheap.
4. Find areas with maps - Frank Ryan / Transitway Area (not mapped) and Britannia for Woodroffe HS and SRB. Cedarview map and Bruce Pit (not mapped) for Bell HS and SRB are some examples.

Any other thoughts?

Running 50:00 [1] 8.5 km (5:53 / km)
(injured) shoes: Newbalance 758 blue

Failed training with the crew. I was assigned to take it easy on the 1 km intervals and not run them for more then 5 minutes at a time. I felt fine after the warmup so did the first km in 4:30 ish but felt my hamstring at the end of the loop. It all went downhill from there. Super annoying because everything felt so good after pool running yesterday and physio this morning. Ah well - back to the pool tomorrow.

Deep water running 50:00 [2] 8.3 km (6:01 / km)
(injured)

Went to the pool again with Eric. I'm enjoying this pool running because of the good conversations about various orienteering plans and things :) Eric and I are going to try and get to the pool once a week through the winter to put in some low-impact kms.
