Classic XC skiing 2:02:00 intensity: (1:01:00 @1) + (1:01:00 @2) 19.5 km (6:15 / km)

Kitty invited me out for a long ski with her today. Pretty gray day around Calgary but the sky opened up nicely past about Banff and despite the trail itself being boring the views from the Great Divide Road were spectacular. I have some photos I will upload later (assuming I remember).

I desperately need to glide wax my skis though. Felt like I was working twice as hard shuffling along and going at half speed.

Went to physio after this. Apparently I do a lot of basic things wrong. I've been tasked with fixing my weight transfer from one leg to the other so my hips don't drop or lift so much. Gradually working towards adjusting my running gait so I'm not limping along so much :)

Second running workout of the season (or for my Ottawa team, CalgaRALF). Smaller crew out than last week: Andree, Marion, Eduard, Marsha, Magali, Kitty and myself. The exercise is explained on the map but basically it was intervals back and forth across Confed park (down carry the speed through the flat and then push up the hill on the other side) for up to 50 minutes (which we cut down to 45).

I cut through the snow wherever possible. Some stayed on paths as much as they could.

Started out as a warm-up routine but got into it so turned it into a running drills workout:
Stretching and loosening up and then grape-vines, butt kicks, high knees, pawing the grounds, strides, bounds with forward knee, bounds across and along a small trail through the snow then slalom through and around trees in the park in the snow. Good workout. Jogged home after to grab gym shoes and do some stretching at Westside.

In the gym on one of the bike there while listening to a new podcast which turned out to be not quite what I thought it was. Something medical (I don't remember the name of it) but it turns out it was aimed for doctors and not for the general public. Ah well.
