Orienteering (Flinders Uni) 22:03 [3] *** 2.0 km (11:02 / km) +60m 9:35 / km
16c

Short course at the Flinders Uni Snap Sprint Series set by Simon. This was a really fun course and I managed to trot around without any mistakes and without any pain. Wouldn't have wanted to do any longer, though!

We had quite a few competitors and everyone seemed to really enjoy themselves. The sunshine and cool breeze were nice, and there were no huge lizards chasing us like last weekend...

Picked up some controls after in the fading light, and it was dark by the time we all left.

Note

Just entered the 4hr twighlight rogaine with my hubby! Hope I can make it up all those hills in Morialta...

Mountain Bike (Belair) 1:07:00 [3] 14.0 km (4:47 / km)

Rode over to Belair NP and met the crew going for a run. Rode with them up the gully and then up Saddle Hill Road to the top of the park (the runners were much faster than me on my bike up here!). Then I rode a short distance down QJD with the crew before I decided I'd better head down faster in order to make it home before sunset (I didn't bring any lights). Down QJD keeping around 25-30km/hr so as not to lose it on the loose gravel, through the adventure playground and back up the adventure trail, stopping half way up to let 3 MTB riders speeding down the track past, and down the streets to home. Made it just as the sun was setting!

Walk (Commute) 40:00 [2]

Fast paced walk through the south parklands (around Clipsal) to work. The path through the middle of the racecourse was closed, so this took quite a bit longer than expected!

Run (Hawthorndene) 11:00 [3]

Only managed 11 minutes of jogging with Tyson, Troy and Jen before I was in too much pain to continue. Think my running days are limited! Walked home the hilly but direct way from where I stopped.
Funny, I didn't notice any pain when orienteering on the weekend, but somehow orienteering places different demands on the body from running.

Orienteering (Roma St Parklands Sprint) 22:15 [3] *** 2.1 km (10:36 / km) +40m 9:40 / km
14c

After watching the elite relay teams I got my chance to jog around the parklands on what was a very fun public course. I enjoyed the scenery, giant lizards skittering out from under my feet, the winding boardwalks and tropical gardens. I ended up being second on my course - not bad! Guess it's easier not to make mistakes when you only have one gear and it's pretty slow. :)
3 PM

Orienteering (Griffith Uni Sprint) 32:00 [3] *** 2.2 km (14:33 / km) +40m 13:20 / km
20c

This event had a great arena on a grassy area on one edge of the Uni buildings with forest agacent to it. From the arena you could pretty much watch the start, finish and spectator control. After watching the elites run around I got my opportunity. I found this course much more technical than the morning's event, with lots of funny shaped buildings, levels and little walkways. Took it pretty slow and really concentrated on not running any further than I had to! No real mistakes, just lots of hesitations and some pretty cautious running down narrow corridors, stairwells and corners so as not to have any collisions with those often speedy and tank-like M50's... :)
