Paddle 1:10:57 [3]
ahr:126 max:164 shoes: Aussie Spirit PRS

Late paddle tonight at Hillarys with Matt and Liz.

Matt had already paddled and Liz was getting used to a new paddle so pretty much did my own thing. Warm up. 900m efforts with 400m recoveries for the duration.

Orienteering (Urban Max) 5:22:51 [3] 31.75 km (10:10 / km)
ahr:131 max:181 shoes: Brooks Adrenaline ASR

Started off really well today and then made 1 monumental stuff up that probaly cost us about 90minutes. Cruised over to south perth first followed by Jacobs then up to the barracks.... all good so far. Then we went to the wrong Nandos followed by arriving at the art gallery 20mins too early. So went up and did the Rockface, the pool and dancing thing. Met up with tricky at the pool and I was stunned to hear that we had 4 checkpoints to his 2..... (That was all about to change quickly though)

After that we had a long run all the way to Nando's in Subi (really should have taken a bus or something). On the way we did our photo at Office Works and then the trouble began. In an attempt to buy the 'Big Issue' we darted around subi asking for a vendor and finding nothing. So we decided to continue with our plan to take the train back to the art gallery and then on to east perth. However at the subi train station we managed to buy a copy of the 'big issue' of another team. This is where the wheels really fell off. We thought we should go to the DNA tower before heading back to the city so we got of the train near subi oval and ran up to Kings Park. The secret Kings Park map that Dolf bought along proved to be of no help as we took a hopelessly inaccurate route through Kings Park trails and ended up looping all the way around the tower to come back up the big hill to it.

Then we got a little smarter and caught a bus from Frasers all the way to the causeway for the bike thing followed by a run to the old power station site. Then ran back up to Claisbrook station and trained to the art gallery and ran in to finish disappointingly down the field.

Great to see tricky, boltboi and Wally80 do so well.... Dolf and I had a drive home to lick our wounds and discuss the errors of our ways.....

Still was a good day and a huge turn out, next year will make better use of public transport as I don't think I have ever run more than 20km before....... mind you it was a shuffle/walk/shuffle towards the end.

Bike (Commute) 24:02 [3] 10.0 km (2:24 / km)
ahr:134 max:156 shoes: Trek Road Bike

almost 14mins to get to work into the westerly and just over 10 to get home with it.

Paddle 23:46 [3]
ahr:119 max:154 shoes: Aussie Spirit PRS

Dolf and I decided to continue with the planned friday night interval session despite the weather. Matsiv pulled a heart string so was a no show...

Was pretty wild but short wide. Took both of us to unload the boats and stop them blowing away.... meanwhile the paddles were being blown all over the carpark at Hillarys. It was dark by the time we got on the water so we could barely see the waves coming and that was inside the marina....

Canned the idea of doing intervals and said we would just do out and back runs inside the marina plodding into the waves and wind and then screaming back with them. We decided that as soon as someone fell in we would call it a night as neither of us were really well dressed for the conditions. Unfortunately Dolf took an early swim but to his credit stayed out there for at least another 15 mins.....

Not great training night but heaps of fun... Plenty of people having a laugh at us from the comfort and warm of the Breakwater.....

Bike (Commute) 22:36 [3] 11.1 km (2:02 / km)
ahr:141 max:159 shoes: Avanti Montari

Put new tyres on the roadie last night (with great difficulty on the back one) did the windtrainer session on it then realised the back tyre was flat. Pumped it back up but went flat again. Think the new tube I put in may have a leak, couldn't bring myself to do it again.... so was on the MTB this morning. Not many bikes out today

Paddle 1:04:11 [4] 10.0 km (6:25 / km)
ahr:137 max:160 shoes: Aussie Spirit PRS

Was planning on paddling hard to Mullaloo and back but once I left the heads the ocean was pretty lumpy and I knew I would be spending more time trying to stay upright than putting in solid effort. OS had a bit of a play on a few waves then headed back inside.

After about 10 mins warm up outside did 4x 10min efforts with 2 min active recovery and a short warm down. Distance is approximate.

Turned out to be one of best paddle sessions of late.
