Ride to metro. wasn't sure which way to go but with a howling southerly to ride into I elected for the freeway bike path to Lake Monger then Harbourne to Railway road then followed that to the event.

I was running late and had thoughts of turning around as I thought I wasn't gonna make the start. Rode hard into the wind and made it just as the briefing was finished, just enough time to register, change shoes then they started.

My legs were already shattered and I wasn't quite ready for the start so I decided to take a minute at the start to have a quick look and count up 16 controls to collect on the west side of the map. Headed to 20 first and legs and breathing was shot, turned to early for 10 then decided to skip it and go to 16 then backtracked to 28 so already feeling all over the shop. Then flowed ok through 7,6,5,3,18,24,13,23,27,14,9,17,1. Stumbles at 7 as I was looking for track junction when it was on a fence next to the path??? Hesitated around 23 as I cut through the bush then wasn't sure which way to go on the track.

Enjoyed the run and would be keen for the long course if I hadn't smashed myselfon the bike to get there in time. Nice to be reading a map again.

Enjoyed the tailwind coming home via the coast. Much nicer than the ride in!

Took the MTB as I didn't get to repair the roadie last night. I figured seeing as I am on the MTB and close to Hepburn heights I would go for a quick trail ride after work. Did some hills in hepburn first then up the whitfords and then home.

Quickly got these few bits of data of the 310 before it got sucked out into the abyss that is Garmin Connect, ever since using the multisport function everything disappears from it.

Nice to run a little bit further and calf held up ok.

managed to ride to work but only made it to the train station on the way back where I got a flat. Rain had started as I left work so had to walk back barefooted (i hate walking in the bike shoes) in the rain. I recon lots of drivers felt sorry for me as they all waved me through instead of the usual, 'try to run down the cyclist' mentality.

Hard to believe that it took 7 years of riding past the train station before I got a flat there given all the glass and crap that is always on the path there.

Had a bit of extra time so extended my ride to work. Nice to have a bit more distance to make it worth pushing a bit harder.

Rode to work then to the pool after work then home. Went to use my new knog lights for the first time and the batteries seem to be flat already.

My garmin is playing up too as it seems to upload the stuff but it gets lost between the ant and the web.

Arrived at the pool and the only lane free was called the fast lane, all the others had lots of swimmers. I figured maybe that is my problem, I have always swum in the slow or medium lane. I recon everyone else at Anaconda practices in the fast lane and that is why they are all so fast.

It seems the lanes are all the same speed though so I will have to let management know of their false advertising.

On the upside however, tonight i swam 100 FS / 50m BS which is an improvement on alternate laps. Aim to get to just swimming 1km FS by the time I turn 40.
