Run warm up/down 30:00 [3]
shoes: La Sportiva Crosslite

9 AM

Orienteering 15:38 [3]
shoes: La Sportiva Crosslite

Race to determine chase position. Legs were very sore from sat but still felt ok. One 1min mistake from 5-6 which I didn't even catch until Pi and I analyzed the splits after. Brutal.
11 AM

Orienteering 14:51 [3]

Chase. This was quite fun as runners 2-5 started within a narrow time interval behind tomas so I caught up to them and the first half of the race was run in a group. I finally had a good race with good speed and flow and it went well.

Dog Bones. Interesting concept as I've never done them before. Didn't fully understand the concept until half way through and therefore didn't have the best route by far. Pace was more relaxed as my legs hurt just to walk.

Survived the 10 sessions and had a blast. I learned a great deal and am thankful for my hosts (Magnus and Andrea) and all from GVOC who made the weekend possible.

Taking the time off (4 days) before the camp to get over the cold was a good idea as I only had to deal with the tail-end of it on thurs/fri.

Run warm up/down 45:00 [3]

total for all training
9 AM

Orienteering 25:00 [3]
shoes: La Sportiva Crosslite

Queen Elizabeth Park - Start training session. I really liked the concept of this training.
11 AM

Orienteering 13:50 [3]
shoes: La Sportiva Crosslite

Robert Burnaby Park - Sprint. Forested and trail system type terrain. Took it a bit slowly and was in control and it went well.
12 PM

Orienteering 20:00 [3]
shoes: Nike Lunaracer II

O-tervals at SFU. First time doing O-tervals and it was very enjoyable. I liked the idea of going fast. SFU is a really neat area with multiple levels and many stairs which made it quite challenging. Ran with Petr and Pi.
2 PM

Orienteering 20:00 [3]
shoes: Nike Lunaracer II

Can-Am partner training with Rex. Each partner has different controls on their respective maps and you have to keep up while your partner navigates.
3 PM

Orienteering 13:22 [3]
shoes: La Sportiva Crosslite

Fasta style race in Renfrew park. Double sided map with a forked course in a small park = pandemonium but in a fun way. Route choice was important as their was an incrossable stream bisecting the map with only a couple bridges. Good times.

Run warm up/down 25:00 [3]

4 PM

Orienteering 15:00 [3]
shoes: Nike Lunaracer II

Acadia sprint training. Very cool housing complex. Very technical as many of the buildings were identical in shape. Took some getting used to looking for pin flags. Used this as a warm up for the main event of the evening.
5 PM

Orienteering 20:45 [3]
shoes: Nike Lunaracer II

UBC sprint race. I really liked this course and felt great through the first 5 controls but really bobbled and mistook 7 for 6 and then lost time realizing my mistake. Went back but forgot to get 6 so I misspunched! The frustrating part was that I was leading up to the bobble. Great weather and used the new flats which felt great.
