paddle 1:32:27 [3] 13.0 km (7:07 / km)
ahr:147 max:158 shoes: Wobbles

An absolutely pitiful display of paddling by a very weary body. Took 1:15 to get to City, 10min more than yesterday.

Winds around 13 knots with small waves and swell turned W. I think I was really feeling that several litres of water in the boat today as I was falling off the back of the waves. It got more fun past Swannie but my little muscles were not up to the task.

I've had 3-4 'textbook' beach landings recently so I knew I was due for a dumping - well, I got it! I ended up sideways on a wave and fell off on the beach side - I knew I had to dive down to avoid a crack in the skull from my beloved (and 2-3kg heavier than usual) Wobbles. I did avoid the crack in the skull but instead took the hit on the back of my shoulder. I have quite a nice lump! Dangerman wanted to take a picture but I reckon he will have more opportunity when the bruise comes up . . . .

This is why the good guys refuse to wear pfds- because when you get dumped in the break like that you have to be able to dive to avoid being hit by a flying ski, and with a pfd you have no chance of doing so!

Back at work tomorrow for a rest - and a rest day!

Note
(injured)

Cracked on shoulder by Wobbles as I fell off 3-4m from shore in the surf break. Bloody painful and now the muscles in my neck are tightening up too!

Could go and see the physio but I'm afraid of him, he'll find some reason to dig his bony elbow into my ass. No thanks.

paddle 1:30:00 [2]
shoes: Wobbles

First IOP 8am training session, with lots of teenage surf club kids on spec skis! Very useful altho not sure how often I'll drag myself out of bed that early on a Saturday . . . I know what I need to work on, same stuff as before with my right wrist.

paddle 1:59:29 [3] 18.0 km (6:38 / km)
ahr:143 max:156 shoes: Wobbles

IOP Freo to Trigg downwind. 6min paddle offshore, at Swannie in :40, City in 1:05, Scarbs 1:40, in at Trigg in 1:48 which is 12min faster than previous attempts.

I wasn't pushing very hard as I knew I had a long way to go and expected conditions to get rougher after Scarbs, but it wasn't as bad as I thought. I think I can do that run in 1:40 - merely 35min slower than the good guys!

One swim just before Scarbs DOH.

paddle 1:03:12 [3] 9.0 km (7:01 / km)
ahr:153 max:168 shoes: Wobbles

Girls downwind with Bae, waves were quite small so I had to work hard in the first bit to get them. 54min-13min (41min?) total downwinding time. Came in on a wave at some speed necessitating a leap overboard in the hopes that the boat might not smash onto the beach! Would have looked cool tho and last year I would have just fallen off . . . .

gym cardio 51:42 [4]
ahr:137 max:159 shoes: new joggers

40 minutes on machines not including cool downs, then some ab work. I'm going to choose a yuck colour for gym cardio cos I'd really rather be outside and I'm only doing it to drop my 2 kilos of Xmas flab!!

paddle 54:46 [3] 9.0 km (6:05 / km)
ahr:161 max:172 shoes: Wobbles

Freo to Swannie with a group of 7- me, Bae, Dave, Paul, Andrew, Glen and Andre. The girls beat two of the boys which was good!

17-18 knot winds but swell quite W and at times a bit N made it trickier than usual but still brilliant fun. About 41min up the coast with one swim trying to get on a wave I really should have let pass under me. Ah well sometimes you catch them and sometimes they catch you!

Numerous flying fish but no sharks!

weights 45:00 [3]
shoes: new joggers

Chin ups 2.9! SOOOO close to that 3rd one.

Emma wanted to do bench press with me so I had a spotter and attempted 40kg - got 1 and needed a wee bit of help with the 2nd . . . .

Note

I think it is safe to say now, as I'm about to go to bed, that I have done my first alcohol-free day for 2009! Aiming for 1/week so I am on track.

paddle 54:00 [4] 9.0 km (6:00 / km)
ahr:152 max:169 shoes: Wobbles

Downwind Sand Trax to Swannie with Danger and Craig. Loved it. Downwind paddling is, indeed, better than sex, and that's final.

Paddled out 12min, waited for Danger 4min, covered distance to Swannie in 52:00-16:00 which I believe to be 36min, my fastest yet. Yay for my HRM!!
