climbing 3:45:00 [3]

TR and lead session today with Mike. Got to perv on his muscles for close on 4 hours, my lucky day! :-) My 'lead head' was not in tho and I wasn't going for stuff I know I can do.

weights 50:00 [3]

Weary muscles! The increase on lat pulldowns to 57kg on the final set was tough, made more so cos I kept levitating off the seat. Also put another set of bicep curls in, 15kg. Managed one rep on each side at a glacial pace. Wish they had something in between the 12.5 and the 15!!

Those efforts led to a pitiful chinup performance of:
3!

I'll make up for that tomorrow night before yoga.

paddle 1:27:52 [3] 12.8 km (6:52 / km)
shoes: Mako 6

First of the IOP winter series and what great weather! I was quickly dropped by the rest of the 'C' grade paddlers (some of whom have been told in no uncertain terms will they be allowed to paddle 'C' grade again!!) so I just paddled my own race and really enjoyed the downwind bit.

Ended up less than 2:00 behind Bae which I am thrilled with, and Lara Taylor who is bloody good and only did 3 laps was only 10:00 ahead.

Got some good pointers from Dean Beament too as he was being the safety crew and just paddling around.

paddle 45:00 [3] 7.0 km (6:26 / km)
shoes: Mako 6

Paddle Bash 6km 35:57. I was going well, had the boys in the plastics behind me and was looking strong not to be DFL as per usual . . . maybe even closing the gap to Martin (hard to tell in the dark) when WHAM we stop dead.

Cray pot! So I reversed, people passed me, went forward again but still stuck, repeated, then decided if my third attempt at disentangling myself didn't work I'd have to get out of the boat - but thankfully it worked.

However the PB was lost after that so I didn't work as hard and ended up only :47 slower than my PB.

bike ride 30:00 [3]
shoes: Rocket

Not planning to get lost in Kings Park tonight so I can safely log the 15 minutes it will take me to get home too. :-)

climbing 2:00:00 [3]

Session cut short due to friend in crisis needing me, however it was a good couple of hours on the topropes so not a total waste and nothing hurts - not a bad thing!

bike ride 1:00:00 [3] 20.85 km (2:53 / km)
shoes: Rocket

The usual commute, thankfully not as scary as Dangerman's ride last night - but also a bit more real.

Then decided to do weights after work and before IOP meeting so I rode to the gym after work, took as many wrong turns as possible (not on purpose), and so I turned what should have been about 15km into 20.85.

weights 45:00 [3]

Chinups: 6, 3 then decided to save some for tomorrow's climb. Also upped the last set of lat pull-downs to 57 kilos as the 52 felt light. A good sign I think!

paddle 1:10:00 [3] 8.0 km (8:45 / km)
shoes: Mako 6

A return to the Swan CC sprint sessions with Peter and Karl! Peter is going to do the Avon and I said I'd do some training with him. This was hard work altho I was glad to see I'm about the same pace as Karl once he tires himself on the first of the six sprints. Peter was off in front so next time I'll make him go further. :-)

Six sprints, not sure of distance but maybe 750m?? Each one took us 4:30 and we seemed to get a bit faster towards the end. 4:24 was the fastest.

We followed sprints with a remount session and exchange of boats. 2/2 but Peter said I Iooked awkward. Yeah but less awkward than if I fell back out the other side . . . .

Elbows hurt so I have (wisely) canned climbing.

paddle 1:10:00 [3] 10.0 km (7:00 / km)
shoes: Mako 6

This was supposed to be a downwind run but Karl went to Cott and reported that the swell was non-existent and the wind waves were almost straight W. I think he was just scared!

Anyway we rescheduled for the river. It was 20 knots SSW (WHY WEREN'T WE ON THE OCEAN!!!) and we paddled into it. I wished I had my leg leash. It took us 26min to cross Matilda Bay and 13min back. Going into the waves I had the disconcerting feeling of the front of the boat landing SMACK followed by the back landing WHUMP. It's a long boat. Karl said that sometimes there was more boat out of the water than in it!

Remount practice was interesting. The first time I tried straddle over the seat instead of behind the seat - and shot right over the other side. The next attempt I did it MYYYYY WAYYYY (cue Frank Sinatra) and it worked, gave it one more go and again it worked. Both times side on to the waves. So I have some confidence that I'll be able to remount in the ocean but I'll be practicing this little skill during every paddle all winter!

Now I stink like the river so I shall have a shower before yoga with Gandhi!

yoga 1:00:00 [3]

Must concentrate harder on right vs left, Gandhi had to actually come over tonight and sort me out. Like by grabbing hold of me and twisting me the other way. Embarrassing. And I still almost fell over but really, how many people can have all four limbs at 90 degrees to each other with only one of them on the ground?? Certainly not us back row gigglers!
