Cyclone?? This was the calmest morning all year I think!

River paddle with Jenni Bateman, who thankfully put two resistance bands around her boat to slow her down. I worked HARD to stay with her, and after 5km I had really had enough but I decided I needed to get at least 8km, and by the time I hit 8km I felt better so I did the full paddle. Very glad I did this!!

Outs and backs off of Cott in very atmospheric stormy conditions - did a lot of floating and watching storm clouds, until we saw lightning and decided we should head in. It rained on us as we came in but as soon as we got the boats up to the cars it stopped!

I caught one fantastic wave, the type where the nose of the ski drops down and you have to lean back to avoid being catapulted over the front. Fairly sure that's where my top speed of 4:17 would have happened! That one wave made the battles into the headwind worth it. :-)

Just half an hour of Happy Hips. After seeing the wind forecast for tomorrow's race, my hips may be the only part of me that's happy.

When I first got back in the weight room I had lost the most strength in my triceps dips - struggled at 19kg assist - today I got back to only a 5kg assist. Yippee! Now just to get my endurance back . . .

HR data seems wonky!

However I had a major breakthrough this morning, running didn't feel awful for the first time ever!! First km all jog, 6:49, 2nd km 300m walk, 7:20 for my fastest ever 3km (last km all walking).

On 1st Feb this will be increased to all 3km involving jogging.

paddle (downwind woohoo!) 37:08 [3] 6.42 km (5:47 / km)

Awesome downwind with Grant and new guys Paul and Jeff. 5:33 was my slowest downwind km and 5:18 my fastest (3:41 fastest speed) - I felt really good out there although I got swamped a couple times trying to look for Grant who decided swimming might be a better way to get up the coast.

Bring on Saturday, although I heard there is a 2km flat water bit at the end, yuck.

Getting addicted to this yoga stuff - not sure I'm any more flexible yet so I think I'll stay in the privacy of my lounge room a bit longer before venturing into the yoga studios where people are made of lacky bands instead of bones.
