I'm really starting to hate running on the beach, it's just so HARD. More quicksand today so after about 2:00 I decided to do Bae's trick of 3:00 on, 3:00 off but changed it to 2:30 off.

Horrible. I should have got up earlier and done the Zamia trail run! Bring on the cooler weather :-)

I waited and waited until the wind came in (well, it felt that way anyway) then headed to Bayswater where I met Karl and cricket on their way back. My fingers didn't hurt so after 8km I decided to do the full 10km that I had planned.

Apparently we are due for 30kt S winds tomorrow??? That will put a dampener on sprints in one direction . . . .

I walked past the Dome cafe this morning and there were bikes EVERYWHERE. Then I got the smell of bacon - the place was chockers with lycra-clad types chowing down on bacon and egg rolls! If I had remembered this was on, I would have worn my helmet on my walk to work and got a free brekky too!

The usual to work and back, then to the dentist who I thought was close but the street he's on doesn't have a street sign (ha ha!) so I kept walking and walking and then finally rang and found I'd gone way too far.

The way back was much shorter - less than 10 minutes which is what I had originally expected . . . .

GPS couldn't seem to find satellites this morning so I started the timer and headed off, figuring I knew where the 3km point was and would get an accurate time anyway. If anything, I went a bit further but my GPS says I did 13.33km!

I decided that a HR around 150 was comfortable, or at least I kept telling myself that and eventually it did start to feel comfortable. I got to the 1/2 way point in record time (by about 20s) and then walked 2:00 from the 12:00 point, and another :30 a bit later.

The laps I have accurate data for are 6:52 and 7:22. Close to a post-op PB as well, I did 20:27 in Feb with a note that that run may have been a tad short.

This was a planned Heirisson Island paddle until 3:45 when in the space of nine minutes the wind went from 5kt SE to 17kt SW so we changed the plan to Bayswater.

We fought the wind heading out, and the current heading back - miserable all around really.

Didn't feel that strong, and I've sprung a new crop of blisters from mucking around with my grip. So I was happy to stop and sit with Dave T when he started cramping badly.

The very last short sprint felt great though, dunno where that power came from but it was fun!
