learning to run (City Zamia loop) 48:52 [3] 7.01 km (6:58 / km)
ahr:137 max:150

WTF with the heart rate . . . after being SOOO sure that I had made a breakthrough and become comfortable running at 155bpm I have taken a big step backwards, and then tonight another big step backwards. Within the first 200m I felt like I was going too hard but my HR was only 125. And as usual I managed to hit the WCHwy lights right as they turned green so I got no rest.

Heading up the hill I couldn't get my HR over 135 without my brain screaming DEATH IS IMMINENT and it felt awful. However once I got to the top of Reabold Hill and shedded a layer of clothes (and got my HR down to about 110) I was able to jog the next 2km. Largely this was due to the more downhills than uphills and also a fair bit of anger at my backwards steps.

Overall I finished in under 7:00/km pace but seriously, WTF with the heart rate???

paddle (ocean cruise) 1:00:00 [3] 8.5 km (7:04 / km)
shoes: Swordfish

Cruise down past Pinnaroo Point and back with Karl, then collected cricket and took her for her first ocean paddle in an ocean ski. And her first swim from an ocean ski! She did really well in what looked like flat conditions but was actually quite rolly.

I stalked some power boats and chased the waves they kicked up, reminded me of why I'm an ocean paddler and not a flatwater (yawn) paddler. What a glorious day to be out on the ocean!!

Topped off very nicely with BAKED GOODS (thanks cricket) - yogurt and berry muffins. Mmmmm.

walk 30:00 [3] 2.0 km (15:00 / km)

learning to run (City Zamia incomplete) 41:01 [3] 5.21 km (7:52 / km)
ahr:131 max:152

Atrocious accounting of myself with Lucy and Pocket (well it would always have been a poor accounting of myself next to those two!). I did OK through the park but when we turned to leave the park my legs decided to play dead.

I walked the rest of the way and eventually got sick of my GPS bleeping so I just turned it off. Urgh.

walk 30:00 [3] 2.0 km (15:00 / km)

paddle (H Island) 1:24:02 [3] 13.64 km (6:10 / km)
shoes: Swordfish

Another flat night! And a group of 12-14 with several people around my speed which was a nice change :-)

learning to run (beach) 24:22 [3] 3.5 km (6:58 / km)

2km jog (7:12 and 7:05) all jog (wheeee!) then two sets of intervals:
736m
719m

I wonder if this will result in an increase or a decrease in the pain in my hips?

walk 30:00 [3] 2.0 km (15:00 / km)

walk 30:00 [3] 2.0 km (15:00 / km)

learning to run (beach) 20:00 [3] 3.0 km (6:40 / km)

The book 'Born to Run' and my perpetually achy knees have inspired me to do more barefoot running. Unfortunately I left work a bit late and then had to speak to the lovely debt collectors just as I was rushing out the door, so I got to beach bang on sunset.

Jogged 1km down the beach (7:32) then did two interval sets back and down again:
719m
731m

Then walked back to the start. Really lovely night and the beach was deserted.

paddle (T2 sprints) 53:13 [3] 8.55 km (6:13 / km)
shoes: Swordfish

Anne and I got a bit slack at the end and paddled down to the marker downstream of the bridge and back for a cooldown while the others did the bumper cars around the island bit.

walk 30:00 [3] 2.0 km (15:00 / km)
