learning to run (with a whale) 40:00 [3] 5.2 km (7:42 / km)

The lighthouse trails at Cape Nat. Bloody hard work, however we saw a whale jumping out of the water and waving it's tail around which made up for all the rocks and sandy uphill slogs.

First run in the new size 1/2 bigger Kinvaras trying to get rid of the smooshed toes pain that the first pair gave me. Hard to tell if there was much progress but after the run I could only feel a little complaining from the toes.

bike ride (MTB Margs) 3:00:00 [3] 14.0 km (12:51 / km)
shoes: Rocket

On the Boranup Forest trails, with the guy who made most of them. Really lovely stuff, and someone has removed the rocks as there were infinitely fewer of them to run into than at Camel Farm.

We had a jumping lesson which cricket nailed first go but I required a bit more work on keeping my hips back. Then there was a log ride which again cricket nailed first go but my brain said NO. So I tried again, more NO. And a third time, when my brain let me get on to the log and then said NO which resulted in me crashing off it. Stack count: 1

We continued to a quarry which had what seemed to me like a totally unacceptable slope, with a nice rut to add to the fun. Cricket, of course, nailed it first go. My first go required much psyching up and when I finally went I slammed on the brakes near the rut and walked down, got back on the bike, hit the sand and landed in a tree. Stack count: 2

So back up to the top and this time my bum stayed on the bike but my feet were off at the rut. Then I got to the bottom, hit the sand, and crashed into the same damn tree. Stack count: 3.

Finally got it on the third go.

Awesome day out there, lovely tracks, great weather, and Rob from Dirty Detours was good fun. MUCH better than last weekend's demoralisation course!

swimming 15:00 [3]

Maybe not even 15 minutes, never warmed up and a prime example of fat American was there talking in her irritatingly nasal voice to her fat daughter. Yuck.

Apart from that the infinity pool at the resort was very nice, and we laughed at the people in the gym on the treadmill. Seriously???

orienteering lite (car park) 5:00 [3]

We got a map to the Bunker Bay Resort at check-in, which I immediately turned over to cricket as she is the orienteer of this pairing. Apparently the map was all sorts of incorrect, with buildings missing and stairs not on the map either. Thankfully we found our villa.

Interestingly, in cricket's attempts to make sure that our connecting door was definitely locked, we discovered the neighbouring two bedroom villa connecting door was NOT locked, and we considered colonising as they had a MUCH bigger couch.

walk (Bunker Bay) 20:00 [3] 2.0 km (10:00 / km)

Gorgeous walk on the beach with almost no other people.

learning to run (bike path) 38:40 [3] 6.01 km (6:26 / km)
ahr:138 max:149

This didn't feel hugely comfortable but I managed the first 2.3km jogging anyway. On the way back a guy on a bike yelled at me across the train station carpark: 'What the F*&^ you doing running at this time in the morning, go run in a F(*&ING HOLE!' Lovely!

My squished toes problem has not been solved with the new shoes, not sure what to do about this as it starts to hurt at about 3km and by 6km really lots of ouch. Shoes too small???

walk 30:00 [3] 2.0 km (15:00 / km)

swimming 20:00 [3] 0.7 km (28:34 / km)

Lost count on the distance and there's no clock so I'm guessing at the time. Stupid goggles are about to be thrown across the pool, leaking and leaking . . . finally managed to sort them out and swam 300m nonstop. I'll have to get this sorted before the Anaconda!

Suggestions of goggles, or fixing leaking goggles anyone?

weights 40:00 [3]

bike ride (to work) 5:00 [3] 1.2 km (4:10 / km)
shoes: Rocket

bike ride (back home) 5:00 [3] 1.2 km (4:10 / km)
shoes: Rocket

bike ride (City Beach and back) 51:56 [3] 15.12 km (3:26 / km)
shoes: Rocket

Rode home and dumped my backpack and jacket and headed out for a real ride. I forgot how hard the hill on Underwood is! Much worse than the ones on Oceanic.

No stopping on the hills though, which is the one improvement I'm seeing from my collection of artificial heart valves compared to the shite original one :-)

walk 30:00 [3] 2.0 km (15:00 / km)

paddle (sprints) 45:00 [3] 7.0 km (6:26 / km)
shoes: Swordfish

I hadn't planned on paddling because my arm hurts, and the wind was forecast to be 20kt. Then I decided it was just too nice and warm to not at least to try to paddle, and it was an absolute mill pond.

The arm warmed up just fine so I did my ladders. Gorgeous night! Didn't have the GPS though so time and distance are a bit of a guess.
