paddle (Bay 2 Beach) 1:57:41 [3] 16.54 km (7:07 / km)
shoes: Swordfish

Note to self: DO NOT DO THIS RACE AGAIN.

We had about a 15kt S wind (i.e. headwind) through the harbour, and the tide was coming in, neither of which are good things when you're paddling out. It was really choppy in the harbour, quite miserable actually, with lots of motor boats going through to add to the chaos.

But then as I came out of the harbour it actually got WORSE. My GPS was on autopause so there was a lot of bleeping through the bit around Road Head (actual race time will no doubt be 2hr+ which is a personal worst for this race).

Finally out of the harbour and it became a downwind paddle, or it did after about 500m when I stopped feeling so shell shocked. When I came in I was pretty sure I was close to DFL but some people were even slower than me - poor buggers.

Should have saved my $50 and gone for a cut run instead!

walk (to shops) 10:00 [3] 1.0 km (10:00 / km)

bike ride (commute) 10:00 [3] 2.5 km (4:00 / km)
shoes: Rocket

yoga 33:00 [3]

Note

I really wanted to run tonight but I'm back to retaining water - one puffy ankle, which is not a problem - but my upper belly feels so full that walking is difficult.

Some gentle-ish yoga hasn't moved the water baby so I will do the Lasix thing tonight and wake up 2.4kg lighter in the morning than when I went to bed - and THEN I shall run.

paddle (calm flat river) 1:04:51 [3] 10.01 km (6:29 / km)
shoes: Swordfish

Careful study of seabreeze showed that this morning was going to be about the only time this week when I might be able to get a good paddle in without battling the dreaded headwind.

I managed to drag myself out of bed at 4:45 and got to the river just before 5:30am and GEEEEZ it was lovely. Totally worth it and a decent 10km for me, not pushing too hard.

bike ride (commute) 10:00 [3] 2.5 km (4:00 / km)

learning to run (drills) 10:00 [3]

Time to do *something*

100 ups
3 x jog in place high knees
3 x jog in place bum kicks
2 x clams (20 each side)
10 each side of the leg-straightening thing
running man with frequent grabs for the chair to avoid falling over

yoga 30:00 [3]

I stopped doing yoga cos I was getting hip pain. And that strategy worked, the hip pain went away. But I really would like to improve my flexibility so I'm going to ease back into it. Oh boy have I tightened up . . .

Note

Last night after training I stepped on what I assumed was a prickle - but a really painful one. I pulled it out but the pain continued for a while.

I had planned to run this morning but in the middle of the night my foot got really painful and now I can barely walk on it - must have been a BEE I stepped on!

bike ride (commute) 10:00 [3] 2.5 km (4:00 / km)
shoes: Rocket

Right foot is very painful, and itchy, and swollen. I'm scrapping tonight's planned bike ride.

bike ride (commute) 10:00 [3] 2.5 km (4:00 / km)
shoes: Rocket

paddle (sprints) 35:46 [3] 5.58 km (6:25 / km)
shoes: Swordfish

This was SOOO hard. After the first sprint where I got spat off the back of the second grid in the first 500m, I downgraded myself to first grid. I also got beat by all but one of them.

I couldn't make it thru the 20 strokes on - 10 strokes off stuff for even 500m so I bailed in tears.

Given my other potentially-symptom stuff (in general slowing down at paddling despite working just as hard, having to stop twice on the big hill yesterday, and the 90/52 blood pressure reading this morning, being tired a lot), I am worried that something is WRONG.

I'll try to run tomorrow and then decide if I ring my cardiologist. F*&K.
