paddle (Mosman Bay to Freo return) 1:06:45 [3] 10.13 km (6:35 / km)
shoes: Swordfish

Johnston St to Freo with Mark from the outriggers. We had planned to chase boat wash but we started a bit too late and all the good boats were already gone, so we just paddled cruisily to the Stirling Bridge.

paddle (Vajda test) 12:45 [3] 1.76 km (7:15 / km)

Chidley back to Johnston St in Mark's Vajda. It is HUGE and swallowed me right up, while still allowing me to slosh around in the bucket. I'm not sure the boat even noticed I was there.

And the back of the bucket rubbed my tail bone, ouch!

yoga 25:00 [3]

I did the tests from my 'Anatomy for Runners' book and failed miserably at the single leg squats. My failure was so miserable that it's diagnosed as GROSS INSTABILITY.

Eep!

So now I will be adding corrective exercises for my grossness into my day, once I read the next section of the book to find out what they are :-)

learning to run (Shenton Park grass) 8:00 [3] 1.25 km (6:24 / km)

Already 30 degrees and sticky at 6:30am, and I forgot my GPS (but did bring the HR monitor!) so this is a bit of a guess on time.

One lap around Lake Jualbup, had to walk a bit at the far end but I justified that as needing to avoid stepping funny on a tree root.

Foot feels OK.

paddle (Hillz skillz) 1:11:04 [3] 10.15 km (7:00 / km)
shoes: Swordfish

Time to sort out the blister problem . . . took my split shaft paddle to Mainpeak Craig who put the locator on UNDER the covering of the shaft so not only does the paddle feel 'right' but there are no rough edges to shred my soft girly fingers.

Also took a long look at products available in Woolies and discovered this weird gel-filled tube that you can cut to size and put around blistered fingers and toes - it's from Scholl and is worth a try for anyone who gets blisters running (like me! I'm buying stock in ths stuff!).

So I went for a planned downwind but the wind was looking less than inspiring so we decided to muck around at Hillz instead. Good fun, and the paddle felt great and the blistery fingers didn't even utter a peep of pain. Thrilled.

Doctor??? . . . .

learning to run (UWA grass) 6:56 [3] 1.0 km (6:56 / km)
ahr:119 max:132

My foot hasn't hurt for a couple days so I decided to go for a 1-2km slow jog on grass. As I walked out of my apartment the foot started to hurt again so I decided just to do 1km and do it slowly.

Other than the usual feeling of great difficulty despite low HR, everything else felt fine and now my foot is on ice!

paddle (Port Beach triangles) 1:11:04 [3] 11.05 km (6:26 / km)
shoes: Swordfish

An Ash session without Ash. I got there on time which turned out to be 'late' so happily did my own thing while NOT wearing a pfd (shock! horror!) until I found the boys. Then I did 2x laps of the IOP winter series course from 2008 (2009?) with them.

F*&k all out there to catch really, but a lovely evening to be on the water and Warren brought beer for after. :-)

Simon is a funny bugger, he sooooo much wants to be in front of me so he steams along at a flat water sprint speed to get in front, then has to stop paddling to catch his breath while I cruise past not working terribly hard. He'd kick my ass if he'd just wait for a wave to catch but I'm going to keep quet about that. :-)

paddle (cut run) 1:05:05 [3] 12.22 km (5:20 / km)
shoes: Swordfish

From the seabreeze prediction I thought this might be a bit wild and wooly but it was actually perfect, I had a total blast. My hand hurt the whole way through but I was still smiling.

23-24kt at Garden Island but it didn't feel anything close to that, I would have said 17kt!!

3:36 max.

paddle (yucky windy river) 36:51 [3] 5.41 km (6:49 / km)
shoes: Swordfish

Easterly winds . . . thanks Santa. Ocean plans were scuttled so it was off to the river where I was approached by a one-toothed old man asking who was in charge of the boat shed as he was doing some 'volunteer gardening' there. ???

Paddled hard up to the Narrows and then decided as it was Christmas I could do something nice for myself and just turn around and paddle back.

Much more pleasant without the 10kt ENE in my face.
