Holy bejesus this was BIG! 25kt to 28kt gusting to 30kt+ with great big roaring waves that would block out the sun. This was not a speed paddle for me, it was a survival paddle, and I let more waves go than I chased.

But I didn't need to chase many waves as I was mysteriously grabbed and shot along without making much of an effort.

The 'good' guys told tales of getting hurled out of their boats but somehow I managed to stay in - possibly out of fear that if I fell in there is no way I would have been able to get back in the ski in those conditions!

I think I had fun . . . and for what is most likely my last downwind of the season, it was an absolute cracker.

Bloody hard work today, the wind was just not strong enough and more W than I'm used to on this run. I wasn't cutting left enough and with more W in the wind down there you tend to get pushed into the beach more than you expect.

Shoulda listened more betterer when the guys told me that.

Anne, Steve and Laurent came along so when I got done I had to go back out and find them, thankfully they were all within 5-10 minutes of me.

No sub-5:00 laps today.

My sore foot is taped, and shall remain so for the next couple of weeks. Unfortunately with all that tape it doesn't fit into my fave pair of high heels! Heheh.

Note

Got the results of my foot xray and ultrasound from Jacko yesterday. One of the xray views shows a line through my cuboid bone consistent with a stress fracture, but the other ones don't.

So the plan is to tape it and re-tape it until I go back to the US, and then buy new running shoes as per doctor's orders.

This foot has hurt for close on three months and I'm really over it!

I had an optometrist appointment at UWA so I rode there, by the time I arrived I was sweating buckets and the guy had the most lovely leather chair on which I continued to sweat buckets.

I had planned on doing the H Island paddle as the wind was low-ish for the first time in ages but I got stuck a bit late at work.

Reasonably happy with this time considering UWA to Narrows was messy both ways.
