What a magical night - warm, calm, amazing sunset, and the lights of the city reflected in the water. Some people I used to know even showed up - Steve and Wally!

I enjoyed chatting with people for most of this paddle, and then put an effort in from the Narrows back to UWA which felt really good.

I made a friend tonight who rode with me for about 3km chatting away, which slowed me down a bit. And the traffic was terribly inconvenient, slowing me numerous times but not slow enough to engage auto-pause.

And now that the sun is going down earlier, 5:15pm is a very difficult time to ride west - sun in my eyes blinded me!!!

However despite all that slowing, it was a gorgeous night out there and it's time to add some distance onto my hills ride!

This felt HARD but when I saw I did the first km in 6:22 I understood why! HR measurements seem realistic too.

And no foot pain, wahoo!

Now I can advance to running 2km (with any required walking breaks)!

The river was fairly choppy and I was chasing waves on the upriver intervals, then had to get out of the way of the Rottnest ferry on the way back!

Next time I do this I'll do :40 on and :20 off cos I had plenty left in the tank after the 5:00 was up.
