The river felt a bit like the ocean today, a side on ocean. I headed towards Freo from UWA and fought a headwind out, but much more fun on the way back and quite warm.
Lack of any paddling recently is reflected in general slowness!

Ah well, looks like my 6:20/km was a fluke - I was off the back of this group immediately, even the two EPs who said they would run with me. On a good note I ran 3.5km nonstop and then had only 150m break before running to the end.
Not sure I need to get up at 5:45am on Mondays and Fridays for a dose of demoralisation though, I might just go for my own run instead.

There were two stops to wait for cars, which probably helped with this, but I'm still thrilled with this. I ran the first 3.7 km and then only needed a 150m walk. I felt comfortable the whole way, it was awesome!
The secret seems to be ditching the heart rate monitor and giving money to various specialists. The running exercises have probably helped too.
