bike ride (lost in the pines) 46:39 [3] 9.05 km (5:09 / km)
shoes: Anthem X 29er

Kris had finally come good enough that I could coax her and her lungs filled with goo out on a short ride in the Pines. The map is of no help whatsoever as there are lots of new trails that aren't on it. The worst is that the fire trails all have names on the map such as 'Lear Rd', 'Ashton Rd', etc. but when you're out there all the roads are called 'Pine Tree Trail'.

And that's not on the map. :-) We never found any of the stuff I was doing yesterday on the new trails, but we did locate Big Pine TWICE and rode around a lot of fire trails.

The shop does brekky after their Sunday morning ride so we ate pancakes and talked with a few of the locals. Nice way to finish a ride!

bike ride (Margaret River) 1:40:30 [3] 21.26 km (4:44 / km)
shoes: Anthem X 29er

Met up with the Margaret River bike shop arvo group, which turned out to be beginners. There were three of us - a 16 year old boy who has had major heart problems that make mine look like a small plumbing issue, and his mum who had him practically wrapped up in cotton wool, to the poor kid's disgust.

I had the first stack from following the lead guy too closely and cutting a corner, then clipping my pedal on something.

We rode through some trails that need a whipper-snipper taken to them, I was getting whacked in the face by tree branches. Then into the Pines which wasn't nearly as amazing as I had built it up in my head. I did really enjoy the Big Pine trail but it's only about 750m long. The guy who lead us made heaps of disparaging comments about the place, mainly that it was 400m tracks punctuated by boring fire trails to get to the next 400m bit. That was about right.

bike ride 10:00 [3] 2.5 km (4:00 / km)
shoes: Rocket

paddle (sprints) 30:00 [3]
shoes: Swordfish

Managed to squeeze in a quick paddle before my haircut. Four 500m sprint's plus warm up and cool down.

Technique went to shit about halfway through each when my muscles got tired.

learning to run (bike path) 18:43 [3] 3.01 km (6:13 / km)

It's now light enough to squeeze in a quick morning run a couple times a week. 3km felt nice and short and I ran the whole way.

What a gorgeous evening and an almost respectable speed for someone who has not been training.
