Exact same lap as yesterday, 8 minutes slower! My legs felt extremely weary within the first 50m and only got worse as we went on.

I even got hissed at by some woodland creature on Horny Devil.

I feel a rest day coming on tomorrow . . . .

With Anne, who was displaying a lack of bike fitness as I sat on her wheel up Highway to Dell and passed her on the Gunjin up trails. I'd like to believe I'm getting faster but that's not really the case - however it's just fun being able to stay with Anne!

One topple over due to unclip failure - I hit a rock and knocked my foot out of my left pedal, then toppled over to the right as per usual. D'oh!

Legs are weary and I can definitely say now that a large part up my uphill crapness is a lack of power in the stick-legs. That's more easily fixable than the heart! :-)

2km warm up into an easterly with my paddle feeling weird, stopped to look at it and the shaft had slipped. I turned around for some short intervals and I saw the wind come in, the last km was a battle!

At some point I picked up a clump of weed so I got a bonus resistance workout, lucky me.

Purposefully not smashing it on this ride as I was assigned 2hrs 'steady' so I'm quite happy with the time on weary legs! The usual out of Camel Farm then H2D, Metasoma, girly-trails up Gunjin, home via MT/HD and the green track.

That was 1:43 so back out I headed on the green track until the fire trail I was on started heading downhill, then back.

I got through the technical bits of HD without a foot down for probably the first time ever, woohoo!

Lovely morning, no people, no snakes. I had an extended break at the bottom of Gunjin when the 'bushy blow' was bright red blood . . . not sure how that happened but it took a while to get my nose to stop bleeding before I could get back on the bike.

Assignment was 40min steady, no walking. I consciously tried to go slow but when I did the first km in 6:12 I had to give myself a talking to, then I got down to around 6:40/km and a bit slower on the inclines (can't call them hills).

Managed 30min straight before my legs were screaming, so I walked 200m and then got back to running. Pretty damn chuffed with this.

Miserable! With sore quads from yesterday's weights, and only 45min between the end of my run and spin class (and no food in between) I ran out of calories around 20min in and was unable to do any of the standing up bits.

Note

I saw my coach today and had a good chat about why I can't get up hills given my HR is nowhere near what I can reach in spin class.

Then he did my skinfolds, which were 106 three weeks ago. I was hoping to dip under 100 today and I did - by a lot - 87.5!! We were both impressed. Always good to impress your coach . . .

He's now going to tweak my gym program to work more on my legs, 8am Tuesday. And he still wants to do a lap of the KC with me, I tried to discourage this but he's quite insistent, says it's his job, blah blah. Yikes.

Supposed to be a rest day but I didn't need to be at work until 10am and I don't like my chances of paddling on Thursday (maybe even too windy for a downwind for me) which is when my paddles seem to be scheduled.

Over 7:00/km on the way towards the city; closer to 6:00/km on the way back. 36:04 out, 30:40 back!
