Since I decided to save my $50 and half tank of petrol and not do a race in the hottest part of the hottest day in less than inspiring wind conditions, I got up at the crack of the middle of the night and went out for a 50km ride on my new favourite bike path.

Some of the roadies who passed me were even friendly!

Same treadmill workout as last week but worse this week, only got through the first round before my brain screamed at me to stop. Several 30sec breaks required to get all the way thru.

I found the fwy south bike path! It's an entertaining one, numerous branches off of it and none of the signs say THIS WAY DI . Then just when I was starting interval #4, whammo the path ended and dumped me in suburbia . . Ha ha!

Quite windy heading south and much more pleasant coming back.

15min steady, then 75min of 3min on, 7min steady. I would have been fine with just 2min steady, but I'm not sure if I should tell Andrew that :-)

Freaking HOT. I managed this without a walk break but my average and max HRs were quite a bit higher than last 30min steady run. Cos of the heat???

I'm actually quite chuffed that I could maintain that average HR for that long, an improvement!

I'm also supposed to do 1:15 paddle today but I have shredded blisters so I'm not even attempting it. Looks like coach has conveniently forgotten that Monday is my rest day!! Not anymore.
