bike ride 2:25:09 [3] 60.31 km (2:24 / km)

The plan for this ride was to increase the time spent riding, so I decided to go 1:10min out and then turn. Based on previous long rides (with a bit of headwind) that would have taken me 1-2km past the 25km point. Today I passed that at exactly 1:00. At 1:10 I was over 29km so I rounded up to 30km, which would mean 10km longer than my previous longest ride.
On the way back I discovered that you're not safe from cars even when on a bike path separated from the freeway by a fence and lots of trees - a car had crashed through the fence and amazingly missed the bike path by about a metre, but several trees were blocking the path.
About 15 cyclists had stopped and were standing around (one guy was helping the driver) - I couldn't figure out why they were all stopped so I kept on going.
Fairly chuffed to get the 60km done without feeling awful at the end, other than my bum having been unhappy since 50km. 1/3 of the Ironman bike distance done, 13 months pre-race. Clearly I need to pick up speed but that will come!
