Road Ride 2:05:31 [3] 60.0 km (28.7 kph)
shoes: Giant Defy

Blend Kings Park Loop, without the fast guys that normally drive the pace on this loop.

Thanks to my religious devotion to tRickys log I was aware that the new path to Mount St was open so I jumped from third wheel onto the earlier path and got a good gap on the boys, it's always an easy win when you cheat.

I made up for it on the Leightons sprint though when about 1 km out I tried to jump into a gap that appeared at second wheel, but it closed before I got there so I went the suicide effort instead. That confused the boys and I managed to hold them off for the win there too. That one hurt a lot more.

MTB Ride race 3:06:56 [3] 52.5 km (16.9 kph)
shoes: Scale 29er

Kalamunda 50 MTB. paion and suffering.

I though I would learn from last years conga line and start closer to the front, then put in a big effort to find some riders my speed to race with. And that worked..... for about 20kms. thatn I held on for 10kms. Then I popped and suffered for 20kms whilst people streamed past. probably lost 100 spots in the last 20 kms and sulked in 20 minutes slower than last year. Probably should have considered my reduced fitness levels when making my race strategy. As soon as the fitness dropped off the hardtail got really hard work, pinballing everywhere in a few spots...

The only positive from the day was that I didn't stop and get off the bike for a rest despite the negative thoughts in my head as I was suffering.
