Cycle 47:42 [3] 16.96 km (2:49 / km)
shoes: Crap bike

To work.

Almost got a tow from an unsuspecting roadie at the start of the freeway but his mate went past and bagged him out so he sped up and dropped me :-(

Cycle 47:00 [3] 16.9 km (2:47 / km)
shoes: Crap bike

And home again.

Bumped into Mike coming out of Perth but I managed to fight the traffic better and got a jump on him heading down the freeway. He caught up a bit later and we had a good chat until he turned off at the scout boat hut.

Legs felt strong right up until Marmion but then faded quickly up the hill.

Walk 55:00 [3]

Forgot to wear the GPS thankfully as I had a few confused moments out there.

Walked the H4 course with Wally providing some mentoring. Found 1 through 4 pretty easily. Overshot 5 and got pulled up by Wal, and didnt so much re-orientate as bash around randomly til I spotted the control.

Got pulled south down the hill on the way to 6, pulled up by Wal again who tried to make me re-orientate but then also got confused as to where we were. Eventually we decided to find 7 and backtrack. Spent an embarrassing amount of time bouncing around between boulders here.

Easy again to 8 and 9.

Things to work on:
Holding a bearing a bit better - let myself get pulled downhill twice.
Learn to gauge distance - I really have no idea of how far I have gone which sucks if there are no obvious catching features.
Need to pay more attention to contours - I am doing this but only at a basic level.

Paddle 2:02:33 [3] 14.2 km (8:38 / km)
shoes: Endorfinn

Had wanted to do a 2hr paddle this weekend and leaving Mundaring Weir pub at 3.30pm it didnt seem likely that it was going to happen, but Wal tricked me into going by saying that it would be easier than getting up tomorrow.

Started out in the fading daylight from Kent st jetty and paddled the same route as last week hugging the west bank upriver to Point Resolution. It was dark pretty much the whole return trip but not too hard to keep track of where I was - I would have had issues in unfamiliar water though.

Paddle was pretty pleasant and relaxing apart from tightness in my hip and a painful shoulder for the last 30mins.

My hip had been really, really tight all week from last weeks paddle and only eased off after yesterdays MTBing. It tightening up again pretty much straight after I launched and nothing I changed helped it. Must figure it out soon as I could barely stand/sit/walk/lie by the time I got home and only got some relief when Wal gave me some elbow massage torture.

Hmmm, just figured out why I had big scary hard to see boats heading straight for me when I cut the corner from Freshies to Chidley point...

MTB 3:48:18 [3] 19.42 km (11:45 / km)
shoes: Anthem

Helping Cricketk check the Turner Hill MTBO map.

Green small dash tracks were the order of the day and we had awesome fun alternating between riding and bashing through the bush carrying or throwing the bike as the vegetation closed in on us more than a few times.

Finished off with well deserved cheesecake in Dwellingup.
