Running (Trails) 10:00 [3]

The plan was to run about 40 min, but I underestimated the amount of fresh snow that we had gotten and I got sharp pain in my right Achilles so decided to call it a day after only a very short time.

Walking 1:00:00 [3]

Couldn't resist to continue to walk for a while. About 8 inches of fluffy almost weightless powder making the woods look like a winter wonderland.

XC Skiing (Skating) 1:45:00 [3]

At Great Brook Farm. Beautiful weather, +4C and sunny. Grooming was OK, but most was double-tracked with rather narrow space in between for skating. Also rather uneven so I had a hard time keeping my balance and ended up doing mainly V1. I found my old taller skate poles in the garage (must have used them roller skiing so I had to change the tips) and think it was a good upgrade once I got into the rhythm of using them (crashed pretty much the first thing I did as I didn't lift my hands high enough). Did a first loop with Tor and a second by myself. Very enjoyable!

Note

Stopped at the Bedford bike store to see if we could buy Mark better fish scale skis on our way home. They didn't have anything for his weight, but I ended up with a pair of skin skis + new classic boots. Pretty convincing sales person, I guess...

XC Skiing (Classic) 30:00 [3]

At Weston while the kids had practice. Didn't want to skate again and also didn't want to figure out waxing so borrowed Mark's heavy clunker fish scale skis. Was tired and not very motivated to did some star gazing with Lukas on the flats and shuffled around the main course a couple of laps.

XC Skiing (Skating) 1:05:00 [3]

This was so much fun!!! Weston had groomed a 2 km loop for their Tue night races and it was fast and snaking around enough that it didn't feel like going around in circles. Skied a few laps with Tor who was doing very well today, but who fizzled out towards the end and switched to skiing with Mark instead. Tried to work on my V2, but think I need taller ski poles (I am for some reasons I have forgotten using my old classic poles for skate). Probably went faster than I should, but it is hard to resist when it is so much fun! Would have loved to race, but don't this would be wise based on my current lack of fitness and injury recover.

Walking 1:00:00 [3]

Blizzard conditions with perhaps half a foot of fresh snow and heavy winds. Got the whole family to join for a walk through the woods to membership beach and then along the neighborhood streets home. Plus some snow blowing and shoveling. Felt good and invigorating to be out although the kiddos complained that they want "normal" parents that stay inside watching TV in weather like this. Oh well, what can I say more than that I can't wait to ski tomorrow! I had a reservation at Weston tonight, but they were closed due to the storm :)
