Orienteering warm up/down 20:00 [3] 1.0 km (20:00 / km)
shoes: swoops

W/u ~ jogging around the rows of the car park, getting faster. Drills and stretches then into the box.

W/d ~ short jog in the car park, should have done more.

Orienteering race 24:05 [5] 3.5 km (6:53 / km)
shoes: swoops

JK Relay, Braunton Burrows, Womens short, 3rd leg.
Was nice to run and have no pressure. Kaz and Mum had both had decent runs. Went off on my own, felt great and hit the first 5, running hard. A bit too hard, even though I took a safe route to 6, I got onto an unmapped path and looked around when I stopped it was obvious I needed to be closer to the hills though, winsplits says I lost 1:40 ish...:( not good. Flew after, a bit messy on 10 but still got it and again ran hard on the easy bit at the end. Nice 1:1000:) and found it a lot easier than yesterday, simplfied well. Enjoyed it.

Note

Stomach cramps in the evening, first time in ages. Don't think I ate enough before the relays.

Orienteering warm up/down 40:00 [3] 3.0 km (13:20 / km)
shoes: swoops

W/u ~ jogged to the warm up map and did all 4 controls, allowed me to see which features were good to navigate by. Then jogged back faster, doing some sprints on the path. Went back to the car and then from there more jogging in the car park getting faster. Finally drills and stretches once near the start.

W/d ~ short jog in the car park.

Orienteering 1:06:15 [3] 7.7 km (8:36 / km)
shoes: swoops

JK Long, Braunton Burrows W18E.
Aghh 1:1500:(. Simplified the first one and got it ok, ignored the contours and used the flag pole to two and pace in which worked as was quickest. But as things were going ok, silly me felt that I was going too slow. Messed up 3 and then was poor on 4 not taking time to read the map after my mistake. Was caught up 3minutes and then went even faster only to loose even more time at 5. Then it was easier so I got away with running fast but then didn't slow down in the techy bit. Did my own thing at 12 and got away and started to do things better, simplified better and Mariead caught me, she messed up 18 and I got pulled with her but stopped and relocated and found the control. Again pushed hard at the end, Mairead got away, but got into it a lot better by the end. Found it really hard technically and annoyed about the way I did the first half. I think I get on much better on my own too, need to ignore others! On the positve side I still came 3rd....
Lots to work on this weekend.

Orienteering warm up/down 30:00 [3] 3.0 km (10:00 / km)
shoes: olway speed

W/u ~ jogging in the field with Kirsty, then speeding up, drills and some sprints. Then she left for the start and stretched. Then jogged to the start and did somemore drills etc on the track. Got myself away from everyone to focus as that is what I like.

W/d ~ jog again with Kirsty:) in the field.

Orienteering race 38:56 [5] 4.4 km (8:51 / km)
shoes: olway speed

JK Middle Cookworthy W18E.
Had been geeking with Dad and managed to work out where my number 1 was and how to do it in the start box:), obviously I still checked my map and navigated to the first one. Made sure I got the first few again as this is where I had been making mistakes. Was going well, until 9, where I just lost concentration and got slightly high so ran across an area of brashing full of ditches instead of going across the bottom straight into the control and the only way I could get off it was to keep going, then I was messy in the control circle, lost a minute. Wasn't good to 10 as I knew I had lost time and was edgy to 11 and 12, came too high to 13 and didn't have a plan and again went through a horrible wet area, just thought the control would jump out when I got there too, another 40 secs lost. After that though it went better again, the long leg allowed me to settle down again. Pushed hard at the end especially on the hills. Came 3rd so happy as that put me in a good position for the next day.

Event: JK 2010

Orienteering warm up/down 30:00 [3] 2.0 km (15:00 / km)
(rest day) shoes: swoops

W/u ~ jog around the car park with mum as her warm down and itital jog for me, then faster on my own around the rows and the sprints. Then drills. Jogged to the start, and stretched. Felt quite nervous as I knew I was doing well in sprints at the moment so wanted to perform.

W/d ~ jog around the car park with Sophie being happy even though it was raining.

Orienteering race 18:01 [5] 2.8 km (6:26 / km)
shoes: swoops

JK Sprint W18E, Bicton.
Started of carefully making sure I got the first one, I did. A bit hight on 2 but realised straight away, hesitant on 3 and a bit jumpy to 4 and 5 but got them all. 6 I had thought to come out to the open but had already ran past the way out so had to keep going, didn't stop and think and ended up going right around on a path and coming out at the wrong place, fortunately stopped straight away, relocated and found the contorl, losing about 40secs. Was pretty annoyed as I knew that was a quite big for a sprint but the next leg let me use my running speed and I could see Charl (2mins) and Alice (4mins) ahead of me so knew I must be doing ok. I got 7 and physical told myself to slow down for the bulidings, got through them ok, with only one silly route going the wrong side of a building. Was careful but clean which I now realise is good. Then it was out into the last 4 fast easy ones so just pushed hard. Pretty good race and I won by about 50secs:) So pleased, really pleased as I know I am running well and managed to keep the mistakes at a minimum and not let them bother me.
