Running warm up/down 22:04 [3] 3.04 km (7:16 / km)
shoes: Icebugs Spirit OLX 2

Orienteering race 55:53 [4] 8.36 km (6:41 / km)
shoes: Icebugs Spirit OLX 2

SHI relay Newbourough (6.2km).
Didn't even know if I'd make the team for SHI this year as had hardly been in a forest and somehow I ended up in the first team today. That scared me as I knew we didn't have our usual girls and I really needed to perform in something I've lost a lot of confidence in, completely outwith my comfort zone. It didn't make me feel any better that the courses were longish. However Jenny came in a bit down in 5th and I like going out chasing. I stuck to my strengths on first 2 perhaps too safe but gave me confidence as hit them. Then caught Alice for England looking for 3 and just like yesterday plan went out the window and binned 2mins and Heather caught me. Started to think I needed to get away as needed to give Fanni a start on Cat and was messy rushing through next few and ended up bailing to path as off on 6. Wee bit messy on 8 when caught Wales. I then told myself to just navigate and not worry about getting away and by being clean it would happen itself. Opened out onto beach at 9 as knew attackpoint and then could see control so pushed on more. Heather kept going but was sure it was mine and it was. Met her half way to 10 having overshot so knew I had a gap. From here on I was super careful, again probably too careful but I knew if I was clean they wouldn't catch me.

Handed over in 3rd with a good gap and had actually caught up time on 2nd. I almost dealt with the pressure as didn't totally crack blowing it and it was a good experience for me. Fanni managed to pull us up to 2nd which was a good result behind a really strong England team but I still personally have a lot to work on as made silly mistakes early on. However I'm getting back into into this forest stuff and slowly gaining confidence. Absolutely great that Scotland won when hadn't really expected it.

Running warm up/down 26:09 [3] 3.64 km (7:11 / km)
shoes: Asics GT-1000 2

Orienteering race 1:39:11 [5] 14.16 km (7:00 / km)

SHI Individual Newbourough (10.5km).
Started of well even though thought I was going slow but then was distracted as caught 3min girl and missed 3. Then kept trying to recatch which was stupid instead of sticking to own plan. Was standing right beside 6 but didn't see it so lost more time. Tessa caught me and we were together for a few controls but it quickly became clear to me it wasn't my day physically as I felt absolutely horrendous and my breathing completely went. I then felt really down as I already felt worse than Euromeeting and just need b12 injection. I was pretty bad through next few as I was running for Scotland and felt like I was letting everyone down by being rubbish again. Then I pulled myself together and told myself I could only do what I could do and if that meant going slow with no mistakes then that was what I would do but I went on make more mistakes due to not having a proper plan on 13, 14 and 18. I took a real path route to 19 as I felt more positive running rather than struggling and didn't need to navitgate much. Ok through last section and gave me confidence to catch more people but didn't get distracted this time.

Everyone made mistakes and glad I pulled myself together as the all the other Scottish W21s had a worse time out there. Ended up 6th which was higher than expected but lots to improve on but a huge improvement on this time last year. On reflection I might have enjoyed it.

Running warm up/down 12:22 [3] 1.98 km (6:15 / km)
shoes: Asics GT-1000 4

Switching things around because at home today. Dropping long run to have an easier week as SHI this weekend and I'm almost due my injection so need to not over do it so have enough energy for weekend.

Running intervals 20:00 [5] 3.67 km (5:27 / km)
ahr:171 shoes: Asics GT-1000 4

Dad was doing some 400m's with long recovery so I did 800m's with shorter recovery so we could run together for first 400m of my reps . 4x800m's going every 4:30. Breathing starting to go as it does at this stage in injections so dad said quality rather than quantity so 4 was enough this week. 4x stides after. Nice change from the Meadows.
