Sunday Apr 7 #

Running warm up/down 26:42 [3] 5.07 km (5:16 / km)
shoes: Asics GT-1000 7

Running 20:00 [4] 3.43 km (5:50 / km)
shoes: Asics GT-1000 7

Cold, miserable day. 20x30secs just moving the legs quickly while staying relaxed. First 10 with static rest, second 10 more fartleck. Now time to ease things down. I've done all my planned sessions, so hopefully my body and the Scottish weather now co-operates..

Saturday Apr 6 #

Running 59:52 [3] 12.59 km (4:45 / km)
shoes: Asics GT-1000 4 (2)

To the course and then 10km route recce (minus the bits on the track) with 1km @10km pace (chose one into the wind on purpose). It felt harder than I'd have liked but it always does and amongst other things I won't be carrying a wee bag on the day. I know where I'm going to have to push on (due to twisty corners/rises), where pace will come easily and where it will really hurt. Today would have been pretty good conditions wise, not much wind and wasn't in the face for the big long straight, not too warm or cold and just a little drizzle - feel like I've wasted a good conditions day! Think this was a worthwhile session for me.

Orienteering 13:49 [4] 2.59 km (5:20 / km)
shoes: Asics GT-1000 4 (2)

Straight into JK relevant course. Weather starting to get grim but a top class course. Top morning's training.

Running warm up/down 5:14 [3] 0.97 km (5:24 / km)
shoes: Asics GT-1000 4 (2)

Friday Apr 5 #

Spinning 40:00 [3]
shoes: Asics GT-1000 2

Thursday Apr 4 #

Running warm up/down 31:39 [3] 5.51 km (5:45 / km)
shoes: Asics GT-1000 7

Inc. drills before. It's been a wet week but I managed to dodge the rain again!
Struggle home, wind in face but still not as grim feeling as Tuesday.

Running intervals 53:45 [5] 10.86 km (4:57 / km)
shoes: Asics GT-1000 7

1x3200m (5mins), 4x1600m (3mins) all @10km pace. Mum "why did you only do 24 laps"....because that was the planned session and I did resist the temptation to do a 400m at the end to make it 10km haha. This was tough enough though, both mentally and fighting solo with the strong wind tonight (miss having others there but at least when I'm racing there will be other people to hide behind!). I was losing a second or so up the back straight but after grumping about it realised as long as the effort was there I was still doing the session. Last of these big sessions for now, glad to get it done.

Wednesday Apr 3 #

Running warm up/down 34:00 [3] 6.0 km (5:40 / km)
shoes: Asics GT-1000 4

We're not done with winter yet, snow/hail on return.

Strength and Conditioning 30:00 [3]
shoes: Asics GT-1000 4

Yoga 35:00 [3]

Exactly what my legs needed, really good class today.

Running 44:37 [3] 8.33 km (5:21 / km) +47m 5:13 / km
shoes: Asics GT-1000 4 (2)

Easy with Sophie WoL loop with the horrible Dean Village steps, avoided the rain again.

Tuesday Apr 2 #

Running warm up/down 36:33 [3] 6.37 km (5:44 / km)
shoes: Asics GT-1000 7

Inc. drills/strides before.
Super slow after, had to go for a lie down to sort stomach once home before any food which wasn't ideal.

Running intervals 34:14 [5] 7.46 km (4:35 / km)
shoes: Asics GT-1000 7

12x400m (200m in 90secs), with Sophie again but she missed every 3 one so we were able to run together more. The active recovery made it tough as had to keep moving, legs pretty heavy but Sophie feeling similar so kept each other going. Started fine but then was fighting stomach cramps in the second half so times slipped slightly, fought hard to bring them back at the end. Not a disaster just not quite what I wanted and really not a nice feeling (not sure of cause). At least the rain stayed away after the ominous rumbles of thunder warming up!

Monday Apr 1 #

Running warm up/down 34:00 [3] 6.0 km (5:40 / km)
shoes: Asics GT-1000 4

Strength and Conditioning 1:00:00 [3]

Running 31:29 [3] 6.17 km (5:06 / km) +77m 4:48 / km

Steady loop post work, ticking over nicely even up the steep climb out of Stockbridge. Beat the rain.
