Rogaine 9:30:00 [2] 36.0 km (15:50 / km)
shoes: Scarpa walking shoe

Take Nothing for Granite (SC) 24hr rogaine

Planned a 34k loop out to the NW and then E. Nailed absolutely everything and was thoroughly enjoying Juffy's ckoice of control locations - 8m boulders are just COOL! Got to 66 on dusk and then onto 104 in the dark which we hit dead on. Picked up a tail around 32 - 91 - 41 who held on and followed our every step (and stop). Really happy getting 91 in the dark without too much trouble. We were on the spur about 30m above the control at first but soon corrected ourselves. Out to 59 and then easy track legs into HH almost exactly on planned time.

No real fatigue. We didn't have any substantial breaks but kept eating on the hour which makes all the difference.

Beer, food, bed.

Snoring - and lots of it.

Orienteering race 25:28 [4] 3.3 km (7:43 / km) +85m 6:50 / km
shoes: Inov8 Mudclaw 330

Long course at Russell's Gully NavDash (GPS 3.63km)

Nice little course - challenging enough, but fast and open too. Clean through to #4 where I was half way between 4 & 16 and got sucked into looking at 16. Circled 6 a bit. Clean through the rest to 18 - took the fence up to the OOB and then aimed for the gap between 2 and 18 as I had seen 18 from 2. Circled 21 a bit too and not overly clean through to 23.

Good fun, thanks Russell and Cassie. Great little spot, made all the nicer with water and green grass.

shoes: Inov8 Mudclaw 330

Course 2 M35A @ Stonebrook GPS 8.64km

Much better run than last week. Steep hills saw me walking a bit (most hills really). The couple of controls in mining areas where a little bit wobbly - right area each time but not smooth into the control.

Joined the Rachel & Andre train out of 10 and stayed on board to 13 (where they went north and we didn't).

Love the area - great to have something so different to our other maps.

Had Adrian's measure by 15 minutes - perhaps he didn't have a train to catch like I did.

Won't be going tomorrow - Rohan's knackered and probably won't do well without a decent sleep tomorrow. I'll attempt to brick in the dome of the pizza oven instead!
