Rogaine 5:45:00 [3] 18.0 km (19:10 / km)

Bit off a bit more than we could chew as it happens. Planned about 25km but had to start chopping things back at about 6pm. First control wasn't so good - walked past it. Must have looked right when we should have looked left. Only wasted about 5 minutes, but not a great way to start. Next series of controls were all good, including being the first team to three in a row down the E side of the map.

On dark decided we needed to drastically reduce our target. Went to #100 but missed it in the dark. First time I can remember missing a control in years. If we didn't have a 9pm deadline I'm sure we would have picked it up as we were definitely in the right creek.

Took tracks back from a water drop and we only ended up getting two controls after dark! Our night skills have never been great.

Not a bad area - a bit vague and dense bush didn't help at times. Good course setting, everything where it should have been - well done setters and vetters.

Beer tasted awesome at 9pm!

14th! The hundred pointer we missed cost us our first top ten finish. Still, 14th is a pb. Funny, we didn't feel we had done anywhere near that well.

Control flow exercise. Right knee only just warm by the end of it.

Orienteering 1:08:04 [3] **** 6.93 km (9:49 / km) +250m 8:19 / km

Course for training. Happy with nav. Felt a bit leg weary, probably from hard run yesterday and the first effort on hills in six months.
