Adventure Race race 4:00:10 [4] 38.1 km (6:18 / km)

Killamunda Adventure Race.

Left things a little late and didn't have much time to prepare. Not sure I read the instructions 100% correctly for the first activity and probably took a bit long. On to the MTB for a slog. Got lucky at one stage with a turn off being highlighted by a group lead by Juffy, that I probably would have missed. Was handy being a bit back in the field - turn offs and controls are much easier to find with people in front of you.

Got the right 6 without any extras at TA2. Used MTBO map to get 4, 5 & 6, big advantage over the forestry map. Didn't even think of the South Ledge map for the others but it didn't really matter. Decoded the puzzle with about 10 letters. Nearly missed MTBO 9, but noticed soon enough and came back. Must have almost look straight at it first time past. Nice down hill to 10.

Coming into TA3 got told I was in 3rd, which surprised the hell out of me (and all of the volunteers to boot). Really sore and crampy heading off on foot to #1, which I helped Tooms relocate. Small error at 8 but no real issues other than cramping. Still had enough in the tank to burn off a pair for the last 3 controls.

Really enjoyed the event. Surprised and very happy with a podium finish.

Well done Boundless crew!
