Event: Mt Dale West
 

Orienteering 1:43:04 [3] **** 8.0 km (12:53 / km)

GPS Distance: 9.71km, ave pace 10:37

Almost did a 180 out of the start triangle. Fluffed 3, as I turned right on the wrong set of rocks and ended up down near 15. Only other issue, apart from the scratchy bush, was a 5 when I just didn't see the control and hunted around only to come back to the same gully and see it the second time. Did the legs from 15 through to 17 twice, first time from 6 to 7 to 8.

Took a fuel belt with two water bottles and a gel, which I used just before 8. Never felt tired as such, but the bush prevented any real flow with running.

Caught tRicky just after 13 and beat him to 14. Didn't see him after that, although I had the advantage of having run the leg 14 to 15 on the way to 3.

A reasonable course, just shame about the regrowth in the area being ridiculous in parts.

Warm up plus 3km in 13 min, warm down.

3km in 12:43.

Bit wet, but not too bad.

20 minutes easy plus 20 minute build with 3 min at 5:00, 4:50. 4:40 and the rest at 4:30.
