Orienteering race 2:56:50 [5] 12.9 km (13:42 / km) +585m 11:10 / km
shoes: Inov8 Mudclaw 330

M21E @ Belair - GPS says 18.73km

What an epic. I fell off the back of the pack much earlier than I'd hoped when I fluffed #5 on the first loop. Contact with the map was much better after that anyway. About 3 maps left on the line as I went through the map change - but they may have been DNS's.

Only had a couple of small errors throughout the rest - the worst of which involved going down a near vertical slope only to realise I couldn't get through the blackberries at the bottom and had to climb out again.

Managed to beat 14 non-finishers and a couple of M20E finishers to make it a clean sweep of not being DFL all weekend.

That being said, it will definitely be my DFL long run in M21E, with a only small chance of doing any more M21E at all.

Discussion Topic: Are female elites made of tougher stuff than male elites? A look at today's results across M/W20E & 21E would suggest that they most definitely are!

Event: Adelaide NOL

Orienteering race 25:44 [5] 3.0 km (8:35 / km)
shoes: Brooks Adrenalin GTS

Goal achieved. Not DFL but not a great run either. My counting skills weren't up to scratch on the first leg where I went to the left of the third building instead of the second one. A couple of minutes wasted doing a headless chook impression. Got a bit trapped in shades of green coming out of 3, that I probably could have just crossed.

The rest was all good. Weirdly enough I dead heated with the guy I started with.

Looking forward to running again this afternoon.

Orienteering race 21:55 [5] 2.9 km (7:33 / km)
shoes: Brooks Adrenalin GTS

Last starter in the slow boys race. Much cleaner run, only one small mistake on the way to 9. Picked up an earlier starter at 6 and we stayed together through numerous different route choices all the way to the finish.

Not DFL again!!

Tomorrow is going to hurt.

Note

Goal for this weekend - not to come DFL in at least one of the races.

Achievable? We shall wait and see.
