Orienteering 1:39:36 [3] 9.5 km (10:29 / km) +430m 8:33 / km
shoes: Inov8 Mudclaw 300

H1 at Frazzle

Managed to catch both Harry and Wayne at 1 and more or less stayed with them until about 4 where we all seemed to go slightly different ways. I rolled my left ankle coming through a gully towards 5. Pain shooting in three directions through my foot and ankle wasn't a real great feeling. Hobbled off to 5 and it warmed up okay. Bit messy a 6, never really off line, just struggled through the crap a bit. Started tiring a bit a 7 and 8 but no troubles. Saw Harry heading out of 8. Nearly down to 9 I went over on my ankle again. Went down in a screaming/swearing heap. Got up only to see Craig coming my way. He sledged my lack of speed before being a bit nicer and asking if I was okay. I used him as much a I could as I hobbled down to 9 and saw Harry again. Saw Wayne off on his way to 11 when I was near 10, but my ankle was steadily getting sorer and I was hobbling more and more. Bit of a pity because my nav was good through the rest of the course(except for a diabolical finish route choice) but I could barely raise a trot due to my ankle getting weaker.

Out of 17 I had a major brain fart and just could decide on the best way to the finish, so I settled on absolutely the worst way, back up past Sam's hut and the assembly area.

It was a good course and would have been a whole lot more enjoyable without a rolled ankle. Thanks to Sue and co.

Ankle is a nice egg shape at the moment.
