running 1:20:00 [3]

limited time to run. did a quick warm up then pushed hard on 2 good climbs. First climb was 10 minutes or so, the secong climb was 15 - 18 minutes. the trails that I ran I also mouintain bike on, so some sections are pretty steep but not so steep to be unrunnable. I ran these hills with the last steep section of AR 50 in mind, just keeping my pace consistent and feeling stronger the farther I ran. The hills felt relatively easy compared to the last time that I ran them a couple of months ago. My strength has definitely improved.

running 1:00:00 [3]

6 miles total running. Warm up followed by 2 x 1 mile repeats, followed by cool down. Felt pretty tight in shoulder and back today, could have pushed through and done more repeats but I felt that it would have been detrimental to the overall purpose of the workout. I ran back to back 7:15 miles, felt strong and could have run faster, I just felt very tight today and didn't want to risk injury by running anymore intervals.

running 2:50:00 [3] 18.0 mi (9:27 / mi)

Ran 18 miles at the beach on boardwalk. Flat 18 miles, felt strong, ran somewhere between 2:45:00 and 2:50:00 total time. Didn't have watch, just time on cell phone that I carried. It took about 8 miles to warm up and not feel tight and stiff. We know exact mileage because we've run this so many times with GPS watch. I ate a lot of Mike and Ikes, as well as Hammer gels and peanut butter on saltine crackers plus several Endurolytes. Felt great with food and water, I drank and ate often and early just like I will during the race. We ran last 4 miles at about 8:15 to 8:30 pace, it felt very easy, I could have run much farther at this pace. Overall, very much a confidence boosting run.
