Running 6:25:00 [3] 25.0 mi (15:24 / mi)
shoes: Inov-8 Roclite 295

Cactus Rose Relay - Leg 1. First 16-17 miles were not too bad at all. A truly gorgeous day and some of my favorite trails. The last 8 miles or so, my lack of fitness really showed - quite a struggle. Still, a wonderful day out on the trails and hanging out afterwards.

Running 27:43 [3] 3.3 mi (8:24 / mi)
shoes: Kinvara #2

Hermann longer loop. Didn't feel too bad, but like yesterday a bit shy of 100% because of the cold. Not in shape for 25 miles, that's for sure.

Running 42:43 [3] 4.9 mi (8:43 / mi)
shoes: Kinvara #2

Allen Parkway / Memorial loop. Sort of dreaded this run because I wasn't feeling great all day. But it was surprisingly pleasant. Felt stronger than I expected, although less than 100% healthwise. Glad I got out there.

Running 24:22 [3] 2.6 mi (9:22 / mi)
shoes: Inov-8 X-Talon 212

After-work trails. Wanted to test out how I felt after a sick day yesterday. Good news: felt fairly strong. Bad news: literally got chased off the trails by the horrific mosquitoes. At least their wretched presence kept the pace honest. There was no stopping on this one.

Note
(sick)

Zero day as I've come down with a bit of the crud. Sore throat, generally bleh feeling. Should all settle in my lungs just in time for Cactus Rose.

Saturday Oct 22, 2011 #

Running 48:52 [3] 5.0 mi (9:46 / mi)
shoes: Inov-8 X-Talon 212

Afternoon trails. Warm afternoon. Felt pretty good. Mosquitos were horrendous, but the new Inov-8s were awesome. Light and super comfy.

Running 45:40 [3] 5.5 mi (8:18 / mi)
shoes: Kinvara #2

Hermann-Rice short loop. An excellent run from start to finish. Perfect weather - low 50s and legs that felt pretty good. Just a nice, controlled, strong effort. Feeling that the running legs are coming around a bit. Still nowhere near ready to run 25 miles at Cactus Rose, but what the hell.

Wednesday Oct 19, 2011 #

Running 25:39 [3] 3.2 mi (8:01 / mi)
shoes: Kinvara #2

Hermann loop. Legs felt a bit flat early but perked up toward the end. Wonderfully crisp morning.

Tuesday Oct 18, 2011 #

Running 40:09 [3] 4.0 mi (10:02 / mi)
shoes: Inov-8 Roclite 295

After-work trails. Beautiful early evening - cool and dry. Felt somewhat weighed down from a too-heavy lunch, but all the important stuff felt fine.

Sunday Oct 16, 2011 #

Running 1:20:15 [3] 7.5 mi (10:42 / mi)
shoes: Kinvara #2

Sunday morning trails. Very solid. Felt good throughout and kept up a decent pace pretty much the entire time. Nice weekend of running.

Saturday Oct 15, 2011 #

Running 1:25:52 [3] 7.25 mi (11:51 / mi)
shoes: Inov-8 Roclite 295

Saturday trails with TREX. Did about half an hour or so solo with flashlight, then joined the 7:00 group. Nice run & good group. Legs started to feel heavy toward the end, a sign of the crappy shape I'm in right now.

Friday Oct 14, 2011 #

Running 27:59 [3] 3.3 mi (8:29 / mi)
shoes: Kinvara #2

Hermann long loop. Legs felt a bit tired this morning, but a decent run otherwise. Lovely, cool weather.

Thursday Oct 13, 2011 #

Running 42:20 [3] 4.25 mi (9:58 / mi)
shoes: Inov-8 Roclite 295

Afternoon trails. Mellow run on a warm, but pleasant, afternoon. Time to string some decent runs together ahead of Cactus Rose.

Wednesday Oct 12, 2011 #

Running 26:09 [3] 3.2 mi (8:10 / mi)
shoes: Kinvara #2

Hermann loop. Good to get out before work again. Not much else to say about this one. Logged a few miles - never a bad thing.

Sunday Oct 9, 2011 #

Running 26:05 [3] 3.2 mi (8:09 / mi)
shoes: Kinvara #2

Hermann loop. Late-afternoon run in the rain. Yes, rain. Was actually raining too hard for a run for much of the day. Almost didn't get out. Glad I did. Short, but certainly better than nothing.

Saturday Oct 8, 2011 #

Running 45:10 [3] 4.25 mi (10:38 / mi)
shoes: Inov-8 Roclite 295

Saturday afternoon trails. After a brutal work week with no running, this went about as expected. Tired, tired, tired. Warm afternoon didn't really help. That said, it was really nice to get back on the trails for a bit. Time to get back at it.

Sunday Oct 2, 2011 #

Running 54:31 [3] 5.5 mi (9:55 / mi)
shoes: Kinvara #2

Trails. Lovely morning run - Endless/Blue/Renegade/2-minute Loop/Green. Amazing what a mere 25-degree drop in temperature can do for the quality of your run. Saw a large mammal running along the fence line of the maintenance area (now essentially clear cut), maybe 100 yards away - possibly a coyote, but I can't be sure.

Running 1:17:54 [3] 7.25 mi (10:45 / mi)
shoes: Kinvara #2

Saturday trails with TREX. Big group on a lovely, cool morning. Once the legs warmed up, everything felt pretty good. The pace was varied - sometimes very relaxed, sometimes less so. All in all, an excellent run.
