Running 37:48 [3] 4.2 mi (9:00 / mi)
shoes: PureFlow Grey/Green

Hermann. Focused on keeping it super easy. Mixed in a few short walks to keep things relaxed. Planned to go a bit longer, but the stomach went south.

Running 45:07 [3] 5.8 mi (7:47 / mi)
shoes: PureFlow2 Black

Hermann-Rice short. Yeeeow. Obviously a corner has been turned. I think it's as much mental as anything. Instead of being tentative and probably subconsciously afraid of stuff hurting, the last couple of days have started off relatively quick and smooth and stayed that way throughout. Although the last mile today was a bit more effort than yesterday.

Running 45:59 [3] 5.8 mi (7:56 / mi)
shoes: PureFlow2 Black

Hermann-Rice short. So maybe the fantastic session with Gale loosened everything up. Or maybe it's just that it was really cold. Whatever the reason, I managed to kick it up a notch this morning. While I knew the pace was a bit quicker than usual, I never felt taxed. Hopefully this is an indication of a return to running shape.

Tuesday Jan 28, 2014 #

Running 48:15 [3] 5.8 mi (8:19 / mi)
shoes: PureFlow2 Black

Hermann-Rice short. The definition of blustery this morning. Felt much chillier than the ambient 40 (which fell nearly 10 degrees over the next couple of hours). Once everything loosened up, it was a very solid run. Not especially fast, but it felt smooth & strong throughout.

Monday Jan 27, 2014 #

Running 36:35 [3] 4.2 mi (8:43 / mi)
shoes: PureFlow2 Black

Hermann. Flat legs + being pressed for time this morning kept this one short. A running-is-better-than-not-running effort.

Sunday Jan 26, 2014 #

Running 58:37 [3] 6.0 mi (9:46 / mi)
shoes: Inov8 Roclite 295-v2

Sunday trails. Predictably flat legs, but an enjoyable trek along the outer loop (Green / Renegade / Fluffy / Log Road) nonetheless. Solid weekend runningwise.

Saturday Jan 25, 2014 #

Running 1:57:35 [3] 10.0 mi (11:46 / mi)
shoes: Inov8 Roclite 295-v2

Huntsville with TREX. Wonderful jaunt through a snowy park. Obviously a chilly start, but once the sun was up, it was just lovely weather. Everything felt really good as well. Definitely one of the better Saturday runs in a while.

Thursday Jan 23, 2014 #

Running 47:46 [3] 5.8 mi (8:14 / mi)
shoes: PureFlow2 Black

Hermann-Rice short. A little tired and the stomach was somewhat queasy from my bison burger dinner. But the legs were almost snappy and the shin was quiet, so all in all a plus run.

Wednesday Jan 22, 2014 #

Running 42:01 [3] 4.9 mi (8:34 / mi)
shoes: PureFlow2 Black

Hermann + Braes (swale x3). Repeat of Monday's run that felt a little more solid today. Right shin whispered to me & is somewhat tight post-run. But it didn't hinder anything during the run.

Tuesday Jan 21, 2014 #

Running 47:45 [3] 5.8 mi (8:14 / mi)
shoes: PureFlow2 Black

Hermann-Rice short. One of the more dialed-in runs in quite some time. Once the legs warmed up, the stride actually felt smooth & sort of natural. It was nice not to feel like I was fighting my own body. Plus, pretty much zero pain in either shin.

Monday Jan 20, 2014 #

Running 42:08 [3] 4.9 mi (8:36 / mi)
shoes: PureFlow2 Black

Hermann + Braes (+ swale x3). Once the legs woke up after a couple of miles, everything was decent. Integrated a handful of repeats up and down a 20' swale with a nice little ribbon of singletrack along the Braes route. Need to start working in more up and down.

Sunday Jan 19, 2014 #

Running 1:01:40 [3] 6.0 mi (10:17 / mi)
shoes: PureFlow2 Black

Sunday afternoon trails. Endless / Green / Renegade / Fluffy / Purple. Legs weren't all that lively, but I was able to move fairly well. While there was some tightness in the right shin, it stayed in the background and I was able to run freely. Good weekend runs.

Saturday Jan 18, 2014 #

Running 1:13:47 [3] 7.5 mi (9:50 / mi)
shoes: Inov8 Roclite 295-v2

Trails w/ Chris. After a 14-min warm up, Chris and I covered an Endless / Renegade / Green / Endless loop on a chilly but really nice morning. Right shin acted up toward the end, but I was able to move freely throughout.

(rest day)

Thursday Jan 16, 2014 #

Running 41:32 [3] 4.8 mi (8:39 / mi)
shoes: PureFlow2 Black

Hermann + Braes. Nice, chilly morning. Up a bit earlier for this one. Definitely felt an improvement in the legs after yesterday's session with Gale.

Wednesday Jan 15, 2014 #

Running 48:11 [3] 5.8 mi (8:18 / mi)
shoes: PureFlow2 Black

Hermann-Rice short. A geriatric pace for the first couple of miles, but things fell into place a bit better after that. Legs definitely improved over yesterday. Right shin talked to me the last couple of miles, but the left leg was completely quiet - I think it's 100%. Baby steps.

Tuesday Jan 14, 2014 #

Running 42:52 [3] 4.8 mi (8:56 / mi)
shoes: PureFlow2 Black

Hermann + Braes. Chilly morning that started with a magnificent setting moon that appeared huge on the western horizon. That was the good part. Otherwise - bleh. Very flat legs throughout led to a tiny bit of intermittent walking, although nothing really hurt. I'll take it. Pace doesn't matter right now...

Monday Jan 13, 2014 #

Running 36:43 [3] 4.2 mi (8:45 / mi)
shoes: PureFlow2 Black

Hermann. Somewhat geriatric pace, but the legs didn't feel bad at all. The left shin is nearing 100%. Yay.

Walking 26:49 [3] 1.8 mi (14:54 / mi)
shoes: Brooks PureFlow 2

After work stretch of the legs.

Sunday Jan 12, 2014 #

Running 56:32 [3] 5.5 mi (10:17 / mi)
shoes: Inov8 Roclite 295-v2

Green and back + Endless x1. Low energy (a result of too much bad food and drink yesterday), but the legs felt pretty good. Essentially no shin pain in either leg. Nice morning - cool and sunny.

Walking 30:30 [3] 2.0 mi (15:15 / mi)
shoes: Brooks PureFlow 2

Braes afternoon walk.

Saturday Jan 11, 2014 #

Running 48:06 [3] 5.8 mi (8:18 / mi)
shoes: PureFlow2 Black

Hermann-Rice short. Saturday "long" run. Not going to say that the shins didn't talk to me a little bit throughout, but if there's any chance of getting into Miwok shape, I simply have to run through this. Otherwise, everything felt okay. Definitely in that working-back-into-minimal-running-shape mode.

Friday Jan 10, 2014 #

Running 36:14 [3] 4.2 mi (8:38 / mi)
shoes: PureFlow2 Black

Hermann loop. Not too bad. Left shin still a bit tender, but better than yesterday & really not an issue. Right leg felt solid. Yesterday's session with Gale was helpful.

Thursday Jan 9, 2014 #

Running 30:02 [3] 3.6 mi (8:21 / mi)
shoes: PureFlow2 Black

Hermann short. It wasn't much, but it was all running. The shin was a little crankier than yesterday, but the ache never got worse during the run, and maybe even eased up a bit toward the end. Feel really, really out of shape. But at least I ran. Yay.

Wednesday Jan 8, 2014 #

Walking 38:57 [3] 2.8 mi (13:55 / mi)
shoes: PureFlow2 Black

Hermann. Bit longer today and with more running. A little more achy, but I realized I didn't pop any Advil today. Nothing that will prevent me from giving it a go tomorrow.

Tuesday Jan 7, 2014 #

Walking 35:04 [3] 2.5 mi (14:02 / mi)
shoes: PureFlow2 Black

Hermann short. After-work walk with a fair amount of "test" running bursts mixed in. Significant improvement today. Able to run without much discomfort at all. Repeat tomorrow (with a bit more running), then hopefully back to all running come Thursday.

Monday Jan 6, 2014 #

Note
(injured)

Zero day to let the leg heal. Feeling a bit better.

Sunday Jan 5, 2014 #

Walking 51:30 [3] 3.2 mi (16:06 / mi)
shoes: Inov8 Roclite 295-v2

Trails with Richard and Mariela. Gave running a very brief try, but decided walking would be a better choice. Shin felt better as the walk progressed.

Saturday Jan 4, 2014 #

Note
(injured)

Left shin just hurt too much to run from yesterday's spill.

Friday Jan 3, 2014 #

Running 1:02:48 [3] 5.5 mi (11:25 / mi)
shoes: Inov8 Roclite 295-v2

Trails. With Chris and Gordy. Gordy had more energy than both of us combined and multiplied by a factor of 10 million. Mostly running, with just a bit of walking. Nice morning. Although I ate it and banged my left shin fairly hard. However, the right shin was completely silent! Woo hoo!

Thursday Jan 2, 2014 #

Running 42:09 [3] 4.8 mi (8:47 / mi)
shoes: PureFlow2 Black

Hermann + Braes. Blustery morning - really fought the wind at times. Nothing felt especially good or especially bad. I'll take that.

Wednesday Jan 1, 2014 #

Running 1:29:25 [3] 6.0 mi (14:54 / mi)
shoes: Inov8 Roclite 295-v2

Trails with Richard, Paige, and Siva. Not really a run so much as a wacky, free-form ambulation about the Ho. Good time on the feet and good company made for a nice start to the new year.
