HSP. Unexpected trail closures because of a controlled burn forced a few route changes. Did a double utility easement while the legs were pretty fresh. Good, solid hill work. Probably about 800-900 feet of climbing over about 8.5 miles - not Hardrock, but it's better than nothing. While the left foot got somewhat achy after about 12 miles, it came & went. Nowhere near as problematic as last Saturday. Felt stronger overall too - less walking, solid pace. Tested the AK vest. Pros: super light; good storage; doesn't shift around at all; having the water weight up front just seems right. Cons: a bit of bounce (but I got used to it); noisy sloshing (kind of an annoyance); when the bottles are more than half full, they sort of dig into the ribs a bit. Not yet sure if this is the Miwok answer. Sans bottles, it would make a fantastic race vest.
