Running 4:19:07 [3] 17.0 mi (15:15 / mi) +1200ft 14:17 / mi
slept:7.0 shoes: Altra Lone Peak 2.5

Hill Country SNA. Had a mediation in San Antonio Friday & about an hour before I hit the road up there, I realized I could justify staying the night & actually getting some time on the Bandera trails. Left the HRM in the car - didn't want to mess with it. Got a later start than I wanted, so I didn't get the 25 I had originally penciled in for this weekend. But 17 at HCSNA is somewhat harder than 17 at HSP. It was a beautiful morning & I barely saw another person. Got turned around on my second loop (those trails are confusing as shit without race marking!), so the mileage may be off a tad. Started it fasted & had an avocado and a 100 cal. Cliff food thing at the halfway mark. Energy was pretty good on few calories. Kept the effort super chill throughout. A good reminder of how tough these trails are - Bandera will be a bitch.

Running 51:32 [3] 5.2 mi (9:55 / mi)
ahr:130 max:144 slept:7.0 shoes: Skora Fit

Hermann + Braes. Chilly but nice morning. HRM was worthless for the first couple of miles, but this one felt excellent throughout.

Running 1:03:20 [3] 6.6 mi (9:36 / mi)
ahr:134 max:152 slept:7.5 shoes: Altra Instinct 3.0 (black)

Braes long + Hermann + Braes long. Chilly but nice morning. First 1.5 and last 1.0 around MAF with 85% of everything in between in the mid/high 140s. 4 long chunks at an elevated effort with short rests at MAF in between. Probably running mid/upper 8s, so basically what I used to run all the time is now tempo work. That said, it was really enjoyable to run at a real running pace for significant periods. Felt great throughout.

Note
(rest day)

Morning thunderstorms meant a scratch. Probably could have churned out a few miles at the end of the day, but I decided to wash my car instead. Priorities.

Running 59:45 [3] 6.2 mi (9:38 / mi)
ahr:129 max:143 slept:7.5 shoes: Altra Instinct 3.0

Braes long + Hermann + Braes. Cool, slightly humid morning. Feeling tremendous for whatever reason. One of the best & quickest MAF efforts to date, and I definitely could have pushed a bit more.

Running 1:02:05 [3] 6.2 mi (10:01 / mi)
ahr:127 max:142 slept:7.0 shoes: Skora Fit

Braes long + Hermann + Braes. Cool morning was nice after the recent warm spell. Felt really, really good the entire way.

Note
(rest day)

Rained for much of the day, so I moved my planned rest up a day.
