Intricate Sprint in Leuven.
Started really quickly and was lying a clear 2nd halfway round but got the wrong number in my head on a simple short leg and took more than a minute to sort it out. Pushed on from there and didn’t slow down in the botanic gardens as planned and lost a further minute.
Finished 13th MSV with all chances of a good result over the weekend gone.

Shoes worked ok.

A bit faster and more open race but again made a mess of it. Straight out of the start to a marshalled road crossing and I ran off up the wrong street loosing 40s, settled down after this but blew it again later by stopping too early on a simple run down a straight road throwing away another minute.
Finished 14th MSV.

Tried a full caffeine coffee in the morning which made me a bit hyper which I don’t think works with Orienteering. Back to one de-caff maximum per day.

Prologue in Leuven, Belgium.
Torrential rain and I didn’t take a hat or visor.
Visibility zero, stop glasses off to read map, run map memory to control.
A good exercise, no grip on wet cobbles with NVii Sprint shoes!
Finished 4th MSV.

Great course, unfortunately colour vision issues and over cut circles spoiled it for me as I couldn’t find the circle for control 10 on the map and had to run around looking for it loosing 2 min 25 sec. Finished 8th MSV (was 4th before error).
