orienteering 47:00 [4]

Night-O from Hoias. Fiddly course with little option to use big features. Really stop-start at beginning, then gradually got into the flow (apart from one shocker at #6 - just bumbled across series of marshes and knew I didn't know what was happening. Pleased I relocated fairly quickly but then control hidden behind boulder which I stood beside for a bit...

steady run warm up/down 10:00 [3]

stretching 10:00 [1]

steady run 50:00 [3]

With S round tracks and paths in forest at Erte. Very nice looking woods, undulating and mostly pine so decent visibility. Legs felt tired at start but warmed up and going bit better by end. Mind still a bit wooly.

Note

Carried on driving and reached Halden at 1040 this morning, 12 and half hours driving in 15 hour total trip time (one refuel and 2 ferry crossings). Roads amazingly quiet until leaving ferry at Helsingborg then busy to Gothenburg, but sun came up there and the road was very, very quiet to the Norwegian border so just kept on driving.
Breathalysed at the Norwegian border - not worried, only had 1 beer in past 2 weeks!

Note

Don't think I'll try the night-O tonight, my body might be here but my mind hasn't yet caught up :-)

Note

Eventually reached Amsterdam at 1930 and set off driving across to Germany, Denmark, Sweden and Norway. Roads very quiet and easy driving.

Note

Travelling- drive to Edinburgh through ice rain snow and floods then fine to Newcastle. However ferry 5 hours late (and counting) due to it breaking moorings and crunching into the quay. Welders still at work at the stern, just (2200) had announcement of free drinks and sandwiches - not a good sign methinks!
Eventually set of at 0315... over 10 hours late. Apparently a ballast tank was breached in the excitement of the ferry breaking its moorings and had to be repaired.

steady run 2:25:00 [3]

With Ben et al, Tillypronie to Eagle to Morven down via north east ridge. Windy and cold, arctic on top. Very pleasant run, legs heavy at start but eased in and never really pushed for pace. Makes up for missing Morven on 21st Dec (first time for 20+ years).

steady run 1:25:00 [3]

With Ben, Clare and 4 others round Scotty, up to Hill of Goach and along to Scotty tower then back via long way to south and round. Very pleasant chatty run and weather cleared up nicely. Legs fine and heel not noticeable at all - maybe first run like that for a long time.
