steady run 15:00 [3]

Warm up to start, also forgot my brikke so back to car and back up. realised I was a bit tight for time (meeting in Ballater 1 hour later so pressure on...)

orienteering race 46:00 [4]

DNC 1, Cambs O'May. 4.8km aimed for 10s and got it - just. Concentrated on getting things right technically, stopped to read map when I couldn't see it properly when moving, checked all features I could and it worked. Running - I took it when I could be tried not to get frustrated b the slowness in many places - rocky and brackeny in bits. Lucky in area north of pylons - couldn't make anything fit (old, unrevised bit of map) - seemed to be way to many contours and form lines compared to the ground. After this was very careful in flatter area - linked left and right to check of little hills and spurs. Caught JC at 10 and then took different route, think I was quicker on track. Took straight option to last control when he went round track (I'm not going to catch an M16 on a path these days!). I was 30 secs slower.
Overall pleased - probably best start to DNC for many years - no more than 1 min of errors and a few hesitations.

Pilates 1:00:00 [1]

Good session, using foam rollers.

steady run warm up/down 20:00 [3]

Fair amount of running around to try to get legs and head going. By start head was OK but legs not really so good.

orienteering race 1:10:25 [5]

Same as yesterday, strong but slow and heavy. Clean through first few controls and then tried to pick up pace a bit on longer legs. Chose left route to avoid climb on leon leg - 2nd fastest but 2 mins slower than CA... Clean through technical legs after this and then faded towards end - food, water, lack of sleep? Held on for win on short Brown 8.8km 70.25 1.5 mins ahead of CA.
please with w/e races, o-ing well and reading map carefully. Will try this approach at DNC start next Wednesday and see if I can avoid my sloppy O at start of night events!
de-training means I'm not tired from training but my legs felt like shit for both races... Will probably do some survey next week so walking might help avoid the bad feeling muscles.

steady run warm up/down 15:00 [4]

Quick run to start after late arrival. Feeling dreadfully heavy legged. Missed start but got one a few minutes later... turned out to be 1 min behind CA...

orienteering race 40:00 [5]

Culbin middle, 5.3km 39.41. Pleased with run, smooth start caught CA at 4 then pushed with him for the rest of the course. In control and reading map well but feeling heavy legged - strong but ploddy. Ended up 9 mins behind Sasha... hmmm I used to love thrashing through Culbin at 5mins./km, how times change!

Hanging and collecting controls for after-school club. Legs OK but breathing crap - feeling a bit wheezy.
