steady run 16:00 [3]

Wee trot from Dinnet Hall to BNOC start picking up the reflective canes, managed to bang a lift back to hall from Alex Brodie (sparky who sorted the floodlights start area.).
Spent the rest of the day in a dwam at the event centre. Seemed like a lot of people had a lot of fun this weekend.

Note

"rest day" - if 4 hours preparing for BNOC and then 6 hours at the event centre can be called restful...

orienteering 28:00 [3]

Hanging a few tapes for some training. Lovely mild day, out in a t-shirt, felt like April or May.
Saw an ant hill seething with life - a bit earlier than normal!

steady run warm up/down 30:00 [3]

Decent warm-up before Potties night race. Feeling OK and calf not painful.

Hill Race race 37:00 [5]

Potties night race, started fairly briskly (for me) and settled in behind EC & AC with DH close ahead. Gradually dropped a bit on way out then pushed o rougher and caught DH on climb at half way, he thundered past after 300m or so and though I got on his shoulder a few times I couldn't pass him. Calf fine(I was aware of it but no pain) until the final forest road section where it decided to make its presence felt, had to ease back a fraction and finished 20 secs behind DH. Reasonably happy with race - no real speed but strong and even decent on downs. Noe need to get calf properly sorted - been managing it past few weeks with DNC and all that was riding on the last few races...

Note

6th Deeside Runners M50... again - wouldn't even make the Devil's Burden vet relay...

steady run warm up/down 15:00 [3]

to start and from finish, legs feeling weary, calf not perfect but OK and not too bad after.

orienteering race 44:00 [5]

DNC Tilquhillie, last race, felt weary and nervous but didn't have the legs to really push tonight (also on reserve torch as lent good one to S to test before Saturday). Mostly decent O technique apart from 13 where I overshot - must have been metres from reflector, then missed back again and only got on third attempt 4 mins lost...

Note

Ended up 9th... worst position in Dec this winter! But still first senior!

Intervals 8:00 [5]

Glen Tanar with S, planned to do 5x2+1 but calf felt a bit tweaky at end of second, managed 3rd and 4th OK then it didn't feel good at start of 5th so bailed. A bit narked but nothing bad, just the same slightly tweaky feel without any real damage I think.

steady run warm up/down 42:00 [3]

Out beyond normal start 9decent warm-up length!) and back, going a bit gingerly but calf didn't get worse. Feels OK now 6 hours later.

Pilates 1:00:00 [1]

Note

Massage session - lots of work on right calf, right glute and left shoulder/neck.
Felt better after and some self-work to do esp on glute to help free it up.
