steady run warm up/down 20:00 [3]

To start and bit more back and forth

orienteering race 59:00 [5]

Northern Champs, Wharncliffe. To be honest only at this ‘cos E had selection race. Felt yesterday in my legs and plodded round. A couple of misses and some fairly poor map reading at times (couldn’t work out the quarry line on the slope whenever I crossed it!). Felt I bumbled round without really hitting top gear physically or mentally- need to be sharper for JK!

Note

Hmm fairly high volume week (for me) so maybe less time and try to focus on a bit of quality next week...

steady run 2:35:00 [3]

Balmoral big loop with RM and RC plus 10 guests - of whom I knew 8 from previous weekends, RaS & RutH. Lovely run with a great group of friends, lots of chat and a nice steady pace. R groin niggled for a few minutes but fine after. Longest run for a while ( 15.5 miles).

Note

Followed by drive to Rivington service area en-route to Wharncliffe...
At least roads very quiet.

steady run 1:00:00 [2]

Running the Highlands at Balmoral. started on usual Friday loop but dropped back to slow guest and we cut route short - visited John Brown statue and back. Shame as many of the guests were old friends! Still legs nice and fresh for tomorrow.

orienteering 25:00 [3]

hanging controls for after-school club and a bit running around - to school and back. Legs feeling pretty good.

orienteering 1:50:00 [3]

Checking controls at Glen Dye for Gramp event later in March. Legs utterly shot from last night - no pains but just a heavy, empty feel. Lovely forest and not too much forest grot from thinning work.

Note

2 hours surveying school grounds. Slightly chilly wind but fleece and duvet jacket were enough to stay warm :-)

Intervals hills 9:00 [5]

Deeside Runners Tarland Way hills. session was 10x 90", right calf pinging from no. 2 so cut off after 6 and headed home, 3 others lined me and a few more did 8... maybe a slightly ambitious session for the range of runners there!

steady run warm up/down 50:00 [3]

warm-up. downhills and back.

Pilates 1:00:00 [1]

tough session but felt good

steady run 25:00 [3]

Aboyne Loch to bank and then wee loop towards Aboyne Castle. Testing calfs. Right calf mostly good but a bit tight after first 10 mins. Left calf still a bit tender with DOMS but OK running. Need to be more gentle in introducing heel raises...
