Sunday Jan 19 #

orienteering 40:00 [3]

Hanging (15) and collecting (25) controls at Cambus for Maroc training. Feeling pretty wrecked after yesterdays run and last nights ceilidh and late night (getting old!).

Physio exercises 6:00 [1]

standing set - need to get back to this.

Saturday Jan 18 #

steady run 3:00:00 [3]

Lochnagar with RC, KC, ME, PH, KH. Not sure of weather but wore dobbs - good choice, lots of icy patches from quite low down on main path. Ladder was hard packed snow and ice so a bit exciting at times. Wind was also a major issue. Assumed we wouldn't get any further bu PH headed off the recce it and came back to tell us it was fine. He was right - The Lochnagar massif provided a lot of shelter - even parts of totally still air until on final plateau, but even here wind wasn't too bad. Down Glas Alt with a little bit of ice in places but nothing too bad.
Stopped for quick dip in Loch Muick with KC - didn't feel too bad 'cos warm from flogging along loch side track!
Great to make it - feel we really stole the hill today from the weather :-)

Friday Jan 17 #

steady run 50:00 [3]

To Dess night race then sweeping second loop and home. All at low pace but feeling pretty meh.
Nice night - great stars.

Thursday Jan 16 #

steady run 45:00 [3]

With RC into Potarch, up to trig pint then west along small path to fields, steading (great views... what a potential house) across road to west, loop through home farm and back. Very pleasant run, good mix of surfaces (mostly soft) and good chat.
Feeling a bit tired though.

Physio exercises 6:00 [1]

lying set

Wednesday Jan 15 #

orienteering race 43:00 [5]

DNC Corsedarder. Struggling physically on hills (intervals yesterday) butntechnically pretty clean, missed 5 by about 10m (ran right past it!), 13 didn't see post (and reflector down at ground level... 30 secs. 14 - extra track so ran along it then realised when I reached mapped track, 30 secs.
Managed to pip AB but 9 mins down on MG...

steady run warm up/down 15:00 [3]

Extended warm-up trying to get legs working - hamstrings a bit tender at start but OK after warm-up.

Tuesday Jan 14 #

Intervals intervals 20:00 [5]

10x2+1 on railway line west of Dinnet. Trying to keep consistent effort. Succeeded in this I think. Return was 48 secs quicker (downhill ,wind behind).
Good to get it done. Calf totally fine - just the breathing that limited me!

steady run warm up/down 36 [3]

From Boghead car park to Dinnet and back afterwards.
Chilly and fairly windy, thermal and Trimtex jacket on.
Hamstrings a bit achey afterwards.

steady run 24:00 [3]
