Sunday May 26 #

steady run warm up/down 12:00 [3]

A few laps of assembly with RC, legs feeling surprisingly decent.

orienteering race 42:00 [5]

Oof that was tough - fast and furious all the way, but lots of people around to use and motivate me. Managed too hold onto 1st place on 17+ class (whatever that means...) after DT and RC had set me up nicely.
Managed a nice jog on the run-in as had a gap - tho looked over my shoulder a few times :-)

Saturday May 25 #

steady run warm up/down 20:00 [3]

Fair bit of jogging to start. Hot and realised en-route not feeling fully hydrated...

orienteering race 1:12:00 [5]

M60L, 5th, but 12 mins down on QH... Mostly Ok, a few little wobbles early on, some difficulties interpreting contours (felt a few more form lines would have helped in some places) then lost a bit when I never found a "track" - one of the grassy rides! Eventually used contours to relocate and found control fine after that!
Then "that leg" - brutal straight up hill, largely on a straight track past a gorse bush to a reentrant 20m form a path... Just gratuitous 90+m climb! Then got route choice wrong on following leg - contoured left and it was pretty grim with fallen trees. From there a long wobble mostly downhill to finish.
Happy enough but really suffering from dehydration by end.

rest day pre Scottish

Thursday May 23 #

orienteering 16:00 [3]

Control collecting at Bellwood.

Wednesday May 22 #

Pilates 1:00:00 [1]

Fam roller, not too strenuous, but a fair bit of ab work.

steady run 40:00 [3]

Lap of Bellwood from Station Square. Feeling a bit meh at start but got into it and enjoyed it - esp once on smaller paths.

Tuesday May 21 #

orienteering 1:30:00 [3]

Checking controls at Hermitage for JS trophy. Out for 2-30, but lots of stopping to check and a few map tweaks here and there. Warm but not too hot. Lots of tourists along riverbank paths, visiting the hermitage and the falls.

Monday May 20 #

steady run 42:00 [3]

Little Assynt loop, lovely hot sunny day- superb!

Fartlek 8:00 [5]

Some surges and sprints up hills near end of loop to try to get legs turning over a bit quicker - definitely helped.
