Warm Up/Down warm up/down 10:00 [2]

Orienteering 30:00 [1]

Time is a complete and utter guess.

Really hard orienteering quiz. On part of the map for this weekend at BOC. Really struggled.

Concerned how I am going to cope this weekend as it's all contours and lots of reentrants and spurs which I struggle to 'see' both on map or ground- tho chat on nopesport makes it sound like lots of novices have this problem- thought i was the only person to never get them.

Run warm up/down 10:00 [3]

Run (Hartcliffe Hill ) 23:40 [3]

Tried to keep with RFR up the hill. think from running behind RFR often enough now I now know how to do the fell running walk much better. then lost RFR (could still see her but she was well out of contention) so spent rest of race jostling with joan. the top 'flat' bit was ankle breaking. and my lungs and heart failed me on the descent. pb by 2mins ~ not 16mins like i thought doh!

Note

Hells 3rd so far in the trunce points race. 1 place in front of RFR. aaaaaargh.
7 AM

Run 10:08 [2]

Set out to do RFR's 5k loop but got really bad stomach cramps so had to call it a day. all in all rubbish.

Run warm up/down 7:00 [3]

Run race (Trunce Race 2) 35:27 [5]

Yay such a good run.

3rd female and a pb bagged myself 28 points. score. And did it dressed as a superhero in celebration of RFR turning 21.

Started off with RFR very near me so ran to catch her up (you can't miss antenae) and then we did the v.funny thing of trying to keep up with the other which ultimately leads to running as if you're life depends on it and then we got to the first kissing gate and we caught up rach lee- v.odd. So basically starting off at a good hard pace works well, had my competitive head on today as well so was strong up hills and used the road sections to my advantage. Also finished in front of roger lewis the spook mechanical lecturer guy that is one of the lecturers on my project at the min. couldn't resist yelling ShUUUUOC at him as I went past in appreciation of his old school top he always wears for the trunce.

Cake and singing finished the trunce nicely.

Run race (National Road Relays 6 St) 22:04 [5] 3.04 mi (7:16 / mi)

Hallamshire Ladies B Team. Finished 22nd (A was 4th and 1st Northern- woo)
Ran the hardest and most even paced run I have ever had. Was helped by the fact someone set off 30secs before me I set off hard to get in front. then decided to keep it up. powered up the uphills. It was WARM. got overtaken by 3 and overtook 2. not too shabby. Even overtook someone on the last 600m stretch which was uphill.

5k road race is much nicer than 5k fell race.

Run warm up/down 30:00 [3]

jog and drills and all that jazz

Run warm up/down 15:00 [3]

Fell Run race (Herod Farm Fell Race) 41:08 [4] 3.0 mi (13:43 / mi) +1204ft 9:56 / mi

poo except for the last 800m when I lost the 'my legs are on fire' sensation, and my tiredness and my running style got great.

Note

bruise related business. The bruise has now spread. And I also fell over on the way to the start on gravel falling on to my shin. By the end of the race my shin was a nice shade of light blue. I am a peach.

Circuit Training 45:00 [2]

Didn't do the jumpy ones due to bruised foot so did extra sit ups, press ups, chair n lunges.

Base of toes are purple. all very odd.

Note

Went out for my housemates bday last night and my friend darbs accidently stabbed my foot with her 5 inch stilleto. It swelled up on a point so that it was like had a marble (but bigger) on the top of my foot. Lots of crying and screaming in pop tarts. Gaz sorted me out and took me home. It's a lots less swollen today gaz thinks i hit a vein (maybe?) and my foot is now blue and a little sore especially wearing shoes. shame as was hoping to get into running again. will poss have to take a few days off running.

Run 2:11:00 [3] 9.5 mi (13:47 / mi)

Ba ba is a genius for suggesting a run on such a gorgeous day.

Was v.v.v.v.warm and I was impressed with myself that I managed OK (not fab but OK) as I was concerned that it may turn into a repeat of the Edale Short Race where I had to be hosed down.

Started off the 7 of us- ba ba. hobbs no bobs, hoddy, gaz, rach L and ingers. The boys raced on off in the first 5mins but thankfully we argued our point over needing the map.

Top of conduit-crookes-back end of cemetry, stables, road down to rivelin and then cut up earlier then needed and ran along the top of rivelin valley, alongside golf course, round the edge of redmires reservoirs, stanage pole, along stanage edge, round the side of higger tor, over owler, down to surprise view, padley gorge to grindleford cafe.

Lots and lots of stopping for water and map checking but who cares it was just nice to be out.

Time is total running time and distance is ish from what nic told me the distance would be a few days before in the pub.

Run 1:05:00 [3]

Run with ingers and miss lee through rivelin and back along a much more interesting route than my usual A57.

Hayfever is back. gay.

Note

Had an amazing weekend of races. 4 races where I was able to run AND orienteer at the same time. Was soooo good.Think my most successful set of races. I've got the bug again. Might dig out the walkley map later and have a recovery orienteering session.

Orienteering race (Womens S 2nd Leg JK Relay) 22:25 [4] 2.64 km (8:29 / km)

I really love sand dunes.

Set off and struggled to open my map bag (why are the so awkward) and then teared down the long start only to be met by a charging pack of M16 who had just been set off. This totally through me and I lost where I was on the map so lost 2mins to #1. After that was pretty solid, managed to lose Mrs FR on way to no. 3.

#5 I decided to climb over the dune when it would have been easier to go around. Hey ho more down hilling to do. Then ran up to spectator control in a train.

Started to feel thirsty but was running hard so tried to ignore it (not enough water before running must sort that).

Really really stupid error at #10 as knew I was running fast looked quickly at the map before #9 and saw #10 was on a gate looked up and saw a control on a gate so ran to it but my control was on a gate behind me. Idiot. 30 secs lost

Charged round to the finish when an edinburgh shirt brushed past me. Seeing the edinburgh colours spurred me on and it wasn't until people were yelling on the run in hector that I realised who I was trying to race. Think he was probably just jogging on through while I was trying hard to get past him for a bit of ShUOC pride. Though he did cut me up round the corner.

Absolutely knackered by the end. Caught up 9 places and was 13th fast on my leg. not too shabby.

Orienteering 15:00 [3] 1.5 km (10:00 / km)

Orienteering race (W21S Day 3) 1:25:03 [4] 5.36 km (15:52 / km) +623ft 13:29 / km

I ruddy love running on sand dunes.

I could run AND map read again for the 3rd day in a row.

9min total error on #3 for running too far, could see the drinks control so knew was too far and then spent 4mins faffing on the west side of the depression looking for the control (where the control descriptions said it was) and then saw lots of people on the north side so went to check and thats where my control was. how annoying.

#6 two or 3mins lost here as was very confused by the varying number of paths on map and on floor so was constantly stopping to check. And had to tell a girl where we were on the map twice (me!).

#7 few min error in trying to battle my way out of all the confusing paths. Though this leg is quite lengthy in time I think it may be because it's a long leg and involved a lot of climb at the end. Navigated well of all the green.

Biggest error of the day was running to #9. Was trying to lose the girl that I had to help twice and didn't keep in contact with the map ended too far west near the sea and took me 5mins to relocate as couldn't find anything on the map on the ground eventually realised how far I had strayed and was near the black box on the map.

Everything else was pretty good and I felt so fit and strong on the sand dunes. Love running down them. So much nicer than brambles and grot.

Orienteering warm up/down 10:00 [3] 0.9 km (11:07 / km)

Orienteering race (W21S JK Day 2) 1:38:35 [4] 4.76 km (20:43 / km) +344ft 18:39 / km

Absolutely mud-tastic.

Still massively enjoyed it. Though it was muddy in places it was still relatively runnable unlike brambles which I hate. Downhills were my only problem again due to my new balance slippers.

Took 10mins for #8 and this was mainly due to my shoes it was all across the side of a hill and muddy. and i was holding on to trees and branches for dear life lol.

15min error for #9, got muddled up which earth bank was which then hit the main path so then head back to the open but due to the amount of mud on my map you couldn't see the change in vegetation and difference between white and yellow very well so took me a while to get to the control.

Most of controls fine after that just a little hesistant.

Run in was 5 secs quicker than anyone else on the course :-) though my run ins were pretty below par this weekend as I was running hard through the whole course.

Orienteering race (W21 E JK Day 1) 30:29 [4] 2.79 km (10:56 / km) +131ft 10:12 / km

After stressing all week about interview on weds never looked at the final details so was stupidly expecting a urban sprint race. We arrived and there was lots of mud.

Didn't do too badly 5min error at #4 through not getting used to the scale and ending up at a gate that said no entry. Realised the error and ran round to 4 passing #5 on my way (hence my super quick time to #5). 30secs lost at #6 where I did exactly the same as ba ba ran a little to far turn round and there was my control. 30 + sec error at #14 as had man 180 deg in the wrong cocking direction.

I was orienteering AND running so massively pleased. Some small cock ups. Would have liked to have been closer to ingrid and rach but as it was parkland and not urban this wasn't the case.
